MV Agusta, the agreement with Daimler will be made official on November 3rd
The Germans will acquire 30% of the Italian brand
Mv Agusta – After months of rumors, denials and whispers, the official announcement that the German automotive giant Daimler will buy a minority share in MV Agusta it will be done on November 3, at least according to what Motorcycle News reported.
Daimler already has a good variety of brands under its wing which include Mercedes-Benz, Smart, Setra coaches and numerous other commercial vehicle brands, such as the American truck company Freightliner. It is expected that Daimler will officially announce the purchase of its stake, which is believed to be approximately 30%, in MV Agusta during a press conference to be held at the Milan Motorcycle Show the 3 November. No official statement has been made by Daimler at this stage, while there is an official comment from "No comment" by MV Agusta instead.
Daimler, under the guise of Mercedes Benz and AMG, already had a brief flirtation with Ducati, which began in 2011 and which gave rise to a couple of special editions before the Borgo Panigale company was stolen from under its nose by its bitter rival, the Volkswagen Group, through its subsidiary Audi. The tie-up between the small MV Agusta brand and a giant like Daimler makes perfect sense for the famous Italian brand as today more than ever the Varese company needs a liquidity contribution to take all future measures towards expansion, as it is unable to go beyond current production levels without making its Varese factory bigger.
