Motodays 2014 LIVE – Rome experiences the spectacle of motorcycling

Out with the show and the Riding Tests, in with the Champions and the 2014 news

Day number 3, Motodays 2014 at the Rome Fairs, Motorionline is here LIVE to tell you about Rome not as a thousand-year-old city, but as the main attraction of the two-wheeled world. The first two days should already be archived with the word success... of public, of presence, of that touch in the pavilions and outside, on the road in the Riding Tests. Well, today we continue but in addition there is to add the most evocative moment for fans of the MotoGP and Superbike championships, with Melandri, with the great return to Motodays of Carlos Checa, then Toni Elias and so on.

But we must also give space to girls... sorry, even to motorbikes! Forgive the slip, but here as and perhaps more than elsewhere, they form a superlative combination. The first door that opened was that of the pavilion Chrome plating, where vintage style and passion for engines create unique customizing pieces by the hands of their creators. Motodays joins theItalian Motorcycle Championship, the first and only Italian Custom Bike Show Championship, which in 2014 includes 10 stages in 8 Italian regions. The categories will be Freestyle, Metric, Modified Harley-Davidson, Old Style, Streetfighter & Sport Bike, Café Racer, Bagger and Best in Show, with prizes offered by many sponsors.

The emotional side of the lounge continues with the dining area Yesterbike Motoclub and their “Special of Yesterday”. They are customized vintage motorbikes, we have approximately thirty beautiful two-wheelers in front of us, from 50 to 1100 cc, for all tastes. Private individuals are also able to exhibit and sell their vintage motorbikes, thanks to the“1 to 1 Vintage” initiative, also organized by the Roman Yesterbike association. The Hondas of the Bol d'Or series, from the Moto Club Hondacb.net, are stationary but animated by deep competition.

Between one pavilion and another we enjoy the beautiful Roman sun which warms us as much as the rock notes of Virgin Radio in pavilion 3 where the Piaggio Group displays all the juicy motorcycle merchandise: from the California 1400 cruiser, through the over 180 horsepower of the Aprilia RSV4, up to the few horsepower, but many memories of the Vespa Primavera.

BMW, Yamaha, Ducati and, among these big ones also the small but rich stand of Erik Buell Racing EBR. A pavilion that is an agglomeration of style, horses and big pistons. Style because here there is BMW R Nine T, Yamaha SR400, the new and much desired Monster 1200 and to mention another naked, but all about performance and edges, the new BMW S 1000 R. Super-performance provided by the inevitable Panigale family, from the admirable Superleggera to the "entry level" 899. The spotlight is always on the MT family in Yamaha, the line is pleasing, the three-cylinder from the House of Tre Diapason convinces. Are you interested in luxury, comfort and technology? Then take a seat K 1600 GTL Exclusive...

We enter pavilion 6 and are hit by a bath of bright red, testifying to the mega Honda stand, which places the "weapons" of the various world championships in pole position, from the 1000 RCV2014R to the "smaller" CBR600RR battling in the Supersport world championship. And then on to the 2014 road news with the increasingly present gearbox DCT double clutch: used in touring, for example on VFR1200 or city where Integra teaches. Striking and strong in its qualities, the new V-Strom 1000 at the Suzuki stand which is flanked by the British style of Triumph with the always evocative Classic line or the aggressive SE livery of the Tiger 800. Always an enduro, but this time in house KTM to attract the crowd eager to lay down their backs, we are talking about the KTM 1200 Adventure, first motorcycle to mount ESP created by Bosch. A little further on, we can't resist the attraction of the Mattighofen "beast", the KTM 1290 Super Duke R of which we are increasingly anxious to be able to twist the accelerator!

Among all these delicacies, the side is constantly evolving “green mobility”. An evolution which also translates into the BMW C Evolution "electron" variant of the two C 650 Sport and GT. Then there is Peugeot with E-Bike bikes and the small E-Vivacity scooter.

But Motodays 2014 is about touching the bikes first-hand thanks to the Riding Test of the Houses, or it is also watching the numbers of the freestylers, or admiring, thanks to the BeStunt contest, the show offered by Javi Almazan Lopez and our standard bearers Matteo Mascheroni and Emanuele Freddo...in fact it will start in a few minutes! We're going...and you? Motodays 2014 continues!
