Ducati performance, KTM safety and first show for Erik Buell

Ai Motodays 2014 The first confirmations from the manufacturers are starting to arrive. Taking part in the event which will begin on Thursday 6 March will be the Borgo Panigale team, the Ducatiand it comes from Austria KTM. The Motodays will also be the setting for an absolute premiere for Erik Buell and his new EBR 1190 in RS and RX versions.

Ducati will bring its latest models before the eyes of all enthusiasts. Those who want to see the new one live Panigale 899 and the super exclusive Ducati 1199 Superleggera, will be largely satisfied; 899 represents the new reality at medium displacement level among Ducati sports cars, while 1199 Superleggera exponentially raises the technological and engineering level of the company. The new edition will certainly not be missing highly anticipated Monster 1200, third generation of the iconic Bolognese motorcycle, which after twenty years of life and over 270.000 units sold, is presented again in a new version, even more modern and versatile.

Naked chivalry at the KTM stand. There 1290 Super Duke, 180 horsepower hypernaked with which the Mattighofen company intends to dominate the large displacement naked sector, renamed "The beast". Space for the new small-displacement sports cars, the RC 125 and the RC 390, and not even the off-road protagonists: the queen of the desert, the 450 Rally, and the 1190 Adventure, equipped as standard with the Motorcycle Stability Control.

But as I said before, at Fiera Roma it will be the moment of a great "first", coming from America Erik BuellRacing, a company born after the closure of Buell Motorcycles, decided in 2009 by Harley-Davidson, which had purchased it eleven years earlier. The American company will bring the brand new EBR recently presented at the American International Motorcycle Expo in Orlando, Florida, a new superbike, born from the specialist EBR 1190 RS. Is called Erik Buell Racing 1190RX and represents the "entry level" version of the RS. If the latter costs over 30.000 euros, the new 1190 RX instead has a price set at 18.995 dollars (about € 14.000). The engine is a 72 cc 1190° V-twin capable of developing 185 horsepower at 10.600 rpm and a maximum torque of 138 Nm at 8200 rpm.

The power supply is electronic, the gearbox is six-speed and there is also the traction control adjustable to 21 settings. As for the chassis, the frame, which acts as a petrol tank, and the swingarm are made of aluminium. The American twin-cylinder 1190 RS will already take part in the Superbike World Championship this year, the top speed championship for series-derived motorbikes, in which it will field riders Geoff May and Aaron Yates.
