Safety is an important issue and airbags, also thinking of motorcyclists, represent constantly evolving functional solutions. In the case of MOTOAIRBAG®, the latest innovation is Fast Lock which takes the place of the old activation cable. The device connects to the motorbike, specifically a ring supplied in the kit in the box, mechanically managing the deployment of the airbag and accurately capturing the various situations of potential danger, as indicated.

An innovative solution

The technology linked to airbags has evolved over the years, along a path undertaken in the 50s and then implemented in the 80s inside cars, until it could be worn by motorcyclists. The airbag system only acts when necessary.
The MAB v3.0 vest features two independent and synchronized airbag systems to anticipate the inflation of the airbag system that will be involved in the impact first. However, the two airbag systems come into action during a complete accident. The vest MABS v3.0 with Fast Lock It weighs just 2,1 kg and can be regenerated independently, even on the motorbike. In any case, there is a direct assistance service with the company.
MAB v3.0 is available in black, fluorescent yellow, gray and also in orange black.

The use of two airbags is linked to the two different areas of the body that require their own protective geometry. A first 15-litre airbag protects the cervical area, the full-width back up to the coccygeal; a second 10-litre airbag secures the chest and abdomen. Overall we are talking about a volume of 25 litres.
Speaking of the Fast Lock, like a seat belt reel, it holds the cable taut, but free to slide and, in the event of an accident, blocks the sliding of the cable by activating the airbag. Fast Lock features an analog accelerometer calibrated with Eulerian Instability, it is a MOTOAIRBAG® patent as reported, which monitors the motorcyclist's position at 360°, when stationary and in motion. In an emergency, less than 5 thousandths are needed to recognize the accident and trigger the airbag.

According to information, only 3 cm of "abnormal" movement is enough to recognize an emergency situation, the airbag inflation time is 80-85 milliseconds. An innovation compared to the old cable systems, allowing the activation of the airbag when the motorcyclist is still sitting on the saddle, anticipating the intervention times.
Again based on the information reported, the Fast Lock system is not noticeable while riding, allowing movements on the motorbike, with automatic cable extensions and recoveries. Even when riding standing, 10-12 kg of traction is needed to activate the airbag, enough to avoid accidental activation if you go at a high pace over bumps, or when you get off the saddle and forget the connected cable. Specifically, a "bubble" sticker is proposed to be applied to the motorcycle dashboard to remind the user to connect and disconnect Fast Lock, as is done in a car with the seat belt.
The vest is worn over the jacket. The first scheduled maintenance is after four years and preferably with the same motorcycle, as indicated.
