The historic brand and the Cuirassier Regiment

Moto Guzzi V85 TT Guard of Honour is a special limited series of 1946 specimens which recalls the collaboration between the brand and the Corazzieri Regiment. The number of units refers to the first of the 75 years of union between the historic motorcycle manufacturer and the Cuirassier Regiment, also recalling the anniversary of the birth of the Italian Republic. The progressive number from 1 to 1946 is engraved on the handlebar riser.

A historic union

Il Corazzieri Regiment, the special unit of the Carabinieri which takes care of the guard of honor and the security of the President of the Italian Republic, chose Moto Guzzi models as its own bike after the Second World War and since then these have always been the motorbikes of the Cuirassier Regiment , creating a historic and solid bond.
In the space of just over five years, four different models entered the fleet of vehicles linked to this body Moto Guzzi from the military model I raised, passing through the Supermoose, therefore theGoshawk and Falcone Sports.
From the Astore the motorbikes began to be equipped specifically for the needs of the Cuirassiers, given their particular height. To be part of the regiment you must be at least one meter and 90 centimeters tall.
Close to the Seventies in the body that supports the Presidents of the Republic and the various foreign Heads of State who came to visit the country there has always been the Falcone Sports, equipped with electric starting since 1959. Then in 1968 we remember a new turning point with the progress of technology, the V7 Special appeared, no longer single-cylinder but equipped with an advanced transverse V-twin, what later became an iconic aspect of the signed production Guzzi motorcycles.
Moving on to 1975, the V1000 I-Convert equipped with a larger engine of around 1.000 cc with an unprecedented integral braking system. The model immediately entered the escort service of the President of the Republic, inaugurating the path for the subsequent maxicruisers built at the Mandello del Lario plant.
In fact, in the mid-80s the relationship began between the Cuirassier Regiment and various examples with increasingly bulky drive units: going from the 948 cc of the California II of 1985, to the 1.380 cc of the California 1400 Touring, visible since 2007 during the Cuirassiers' parades and during the movements of the Head of State.
On the occasion of the centenary of Moto Guzzi the manufacturer also presented the models of V85 TT, added to the escort fleet. The motorbikes are characterized by a specific livery created for the occasion, recalling the California 1400 from a chromatic point of view.

The special limited and numbered edition, like the aforementioned V85 TTs delivered in the presence of the Head of State at the Quirinale Palace, presents a black livery with white graphics which distinguishes the models of the Cuirassier Regiment. The white details are located on the front mudguard, on the tank and on the side panels. Furthermore, they are also reproduced on the larger Touring windscreen, where the Italian tricolor also stands out. A standard element like the additional LED spotlights, the crash bars and the central stand. A pair of dedicated side panniers is available upon request.
As mentioned, the production of the model is in a limited series, 1946 examples in total with the number engraved on the handlebar riser. Those who purchase it will also be given a precious celebratory box, which includes a brochure describing the Moto Guzzi models used by the Corazzieri and the philatelic collector's folder with the philatelic cancellation of the stamp issued on the occasion of the Moto Guzzi Centenary, as indicated.
