Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello: new paths to undertake like eagles [PHOTO]

90° transverse V-twin engine

Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello it is a technically and technologically advanced concept with aspects that recall the tradition of the historic motorcycle brand. Among the various solutions, adaptive aerodynamics also stands out, combined with the strength of a new liquid-cooled propulsion heart.

The motorcycle

The external appearance is fluid and refined, enlivened by stylistic elements such as the windshield, with a reference to Le Mans 850 III of the 1981, then the muscular design of the tank and the heads of the propulsive heart, up to the under-seat side panels with slits that recall the example Le Mans of the 1976.
Among the innovations, as mentioned, the adoption of adaptive aerodynamics stands out, together with other electronic solutions such as a six-axis inertial platform and cornering ABS, as well as semi-active suspensions and quick shift.
It features full headlights LED with DRL and "bending lights" system with a pair of additional lights placed in the parabolas to illuminate the inside of the curve, as well as having instrumentation TFT in color from five inches.
There are two versions reported and distinguishable from the set-up. The one with the most extensive equipment also has heated grips, a Moto Guzzi MIA multimedia platform which allows you to connect the smartphone to the instruments via Bluetooth with different functions, Öhlins semi-active suspension and quick shift system.

Technical and technological choices

The model features a steel tube frame and the wheelbase extends for 1.486 millimetres, an interesting figure considering agility. The model is equipped with an aluminum handlebar with a variable section which supports a more proactive or relaxed type of riding, compared to the seat. The setting favors an active and relaxed riding position and a large, padded portion of the saddle is provided for the passenger, also featuring handles to hold on to. The dedicated accessories also include a set of panniers which do not require additional supports during assembly, according to the instructions.
The characteristic system of adaptive aerodynamics automatically managed the position of the deflectors located on the sides of the tank from 17,5 liters, based on the speed and selected Riding Mode. It is possible to choose between Travel, Sport, Rain and Road and for each there are three different engine maps, three levels of engine braking, four levels of traction control and, if present, the calibration of the semi-active Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 suspension which can automatically manage the hydraulics, considering the type of driving and the conditions of the asphalt.
The appendages raised to the maximum attenuate the pressure from the air to the rider by 22%, bringing the specimen closer to the levels of protection offered by the most voluminous tourers, also considering the protection guaranteed by the electrically height-adjustable windshield.
Also indicated: a Marelli 11MP control unit, together with the aforementioned 6-axis inertial platform, cruise control, Cornering ABS functional when cornering and Ride by Wire electronic accelerator.

Thruster

The “compact block” twin-cylinder engine of 1.042 cc, characterized by a 90° transversal V architecture that recalls tradition, is completely new. A compact and lightweight propulsive heart, 103 mm shorter than the small block that powers the Moto Guzzi V85 TT example.
A chain-driven four-valve per cylinder engine with double overhead camshaft distribution and finger rocker arms. The lubrication is wet sump and liquid cooling, also highlighting a hydraulic control for the wet clutch.
The cardan shaft final transmission is combined with a rather extended aluminum single-sided swingarm placed on the left. The output of the transmission shaft is placed lower than the previous Moto Guzzi engines.
The power is equal to over 115 horsepower and with a torque greater than 105 Nm, 90% available already from 3.500 rpm and limiter at 9.500 rpm, as reported.
