In the video proposed on the occasion by Moto Guzzi Official, on YouTube, the focus is on the adaptive aerodynamics of the new one Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello.

An innovative peculiarity

Francesco Marchetta, R&D Engine Project Manager, summarizes the essential concepts of this innovation. An advanced technological solution that facilitates comfort and protection, introduced on a motorcycle for the first time in the world.
According to the information the electrically adjustable windshield and the deflectors open they reduce the pressure from the air towards the rider by 22%, bringing this model closer to the protection offered by the most voluminous tourers. A result obtained through hundreds of hours of work between simulations with CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) calculation software and sessions in the wind tunnel, together with fine-tuning on the move.
The opening threshold of the side deflectors can be managed by the driver even at a speed other than the set 70 km/h, within a range that ranges between 30 and 95 km/h. Automatic closing occurs when the speed decreases by 20 km/h below the opening threshold, avoiding, for example, continuous opening and closing in traffic.
Protection from the air is completed by the electrically adjustable fairing, via a convenient button on the left electrical block, raising the element along a maximum range of 90 millimetres. Operation is independent of Riding Modes, to give the motorcyclist the opportunity to manage it based on their height and needs.
The varied electronic equipment also includes a Ride by wire electronic accelerator, a Marelli 11MP control unit and a six-axis inertial platform which allows you to make the most of the Cornering ABS, developed in collaboration with Continental. The system can optimize braking and ABS intervention when cornering through a specific algorithm, evaluating various parameters.
The model also features full LED headlights with DRL and there are also "bending lights", a pair of additional headlights in the reflectors which illuminate the inside of the curve to support visibility when leaning, a USB socket present in the glove compartment under the passenger seat, cruise control and five-inch color TFT instruments which can be combined with a Moto Guzzi MIA platform. There are four Riding Modes: Touring, Rain, Road and Sport. For each there is the management of three different engine maps, four levels of traction control, two levels of engine braking, the opening of the side deflectors and, in the case of the V100 Mandello S example, also the calibration of the semi-active Öhlins Smart suspensions EC 2.0.

Motorcycles and versions

The design is a concentration of elegance and sportiness with references to tradition, such as the under-seat side panels with slits that recall the historic Le Mans 850 from 1976 and the windshield area which refers to the equally legendary one Le Mans 850 III of 1981.
The engine remains the central fulcrum of the project which appears as a supporting element, the designers of the Moto Guzzi Style Center have worked on the dimensions in order to make them compact and enveloping.
The motorcycle is equipped with a 17-litre fuel tank, the inclination of the steering head is 24,7°, which together with the 1.475 mm wheelbase promotes agility and sporty character on mixed sections. The saddle is 815 mm high from the ground and supports an active and relaxed riding position, furthermore there is a large, padded portion of the saddle with support handles for the passenger. Also interesting is the suitcase retention system, among the dedicated accessories, which does not provide any further support. To connect the suitcases it is necessary to lift the passenger seat and position the hooks in the designated locations.
The new Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello It is equipped as standard with extensive equipment including the aforementioned full LED lighting system with DRL, various electronic systems including adaptive aerodynamics and mechanically adjustable Kayaba suspensions. It is available in shades Polar White with gold and matt rims or alternatively in Rosso magma with the same circles.
Then there is the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello S characterized by even higher equipment and technological solutions. Of note: the Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspension, a quick shift system, the Moto Guzzi MIA connectivity solution, heated grips and the TPMS tire pressure indicator. The bike can be combined with a dress Green 2121 which involves the combination of green and gray like on the legendary Otto Cilindri, or a colour Avant-garde Grey which underlines its sporting character. In any case the rims are painted in matt black.
The range of matching accessories is varied, opting between solutions for transport or to accentuate the qualities of comfort and functionality.
Along with the standard versions, the exclusivity is also remembered Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Naval Aviation, produced in a limited and numbered series of 1913 units with a dedicated livery reminiscent of that of the F-35B fighters supplied to the Navy and a laser engraving of the serial number on the handlebar riser.

Motor

The new engine defined “compact blocks” it's a twin cylinder with innovative aspects such as a system of liquid cooling, but with the typical architecture of Transversal V of 90°.
A unit with heads rotated 90 degrees, four valves per cylinder and double overhead camshaft distribution with finger rockers operated through a chain. The displacement reaches i 1.042 cc with bore per stroke values of 96 x 72 millimeters.
The propulsive heart is combined with a gearbox you are reports with patented technology of the first two gears with reduced clearance, already used on the V85 TT and the cardan shaft final transmission rests on an aluminum single-sided swing arm, now located on the left side. The peak power is 115 horses at 8.700 rpm with a torque that amounts to 105 Nm at 6.750 rpm, 82% already available from 3.500 rpm with the limiter at 9.500 rpm, as mentioned.
