Tradition and technological evolution are symbiotic factors in the project Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello. A motorcycle with historical references and several innovations, in particular a new one twin-cylinder engine with liquid cooling da 1.042 cc. The motorbike is the protagonist of a film proposed by Moto Guzzi Official on Youtube.

Design

Various aesthetic references to traditions are perceived when observing the model as a whole. We highlight two versions differentiated by equipment and the example with the most extensive equipment also features heated grips, Moto Guzzi MIA multimedia platform for interaction via Bluetooth, Öhlins semi-active suspensions and quick shift solution.
The front light signature made up of light clusters is characterizing full-LED with DRL and system “bending lights”, a pair of additional headlights arranged in the parabolas to illuminate the inside of the curve. There is also digital instrumentation on a five-inch color TFT screen.

Among the innovations, the adoption of adaptive aerodynamics stands out, as well as the presence of a Marelli 11MP control unit, a six-axis inertial platform and a cornering ABS system.
From an aesthetic point of view, the profile appears fluid, noting the muscular design of the fuel tank 17,5 liters and the heads of the propulsive heart, with refined details and connotative elements, such as the fairing with a reference to the Moto Guzzi Le Mans 850 III of the 1981 or the underseat side panels with slits that recall the model Le Mans of the 1976.

Technical and technological aspects

The adaptive aerodynamics system automatically takes care of the position of the deflectors placed on the sides of the tank, considering the speed and the Riding Mode selected between Voyage, Sport, Rain e Street. For each of these programs three different engine maps are indicated, three levels of engine braking, four levels of traction control and, if included, the calibration of the semi-active Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 suspension which can automatically manage the hydraulics, evaluating the type of driving and the conditions of the road surface.
The appendages raised to the maximum mitigate the pressure from the air to the rider by 22%, as reported, bringing the specimen closer to the levels of protection offered by tourer specimens, also taking into account the protection guaranteed by the electrically height-adjustable windshield.
The frame is made of steel tubes and the wheelbase extends for 1.486 millimeters. It also features a variable-section aluminum handlebar that supports a relaxed or more lively type of riding, also considering the seat setting. Overall, an active and relaxed riding position is favored and a large, padded portion of the saddle with handles is dedicated to the passenger. Among the accessories we also highlight a set of panniers which do not require additional supports during assembly.

Motor

The propulsion unit is of type 1.042 cm³ “compact block” twin cylinder, as mentioned, characterized by a90° transverse V architecture which recalls tradition. A new engine 103 mm shorter than the small block that powers the Moto Guzzi V85 TT and equipped with four valves per cylinder with a chain system, double overhead camshaft distribution and finger rocker arms. The lubrication is wet sump with liquid cooling and there is also a hydraulic control for the clutch in an oil bath.
The power goes up over 115 horsepower and with a torque greater than 105 Nm, 90% available already from 3.500 rpm with limiter at 9.500 rpm.
The cardan shaft final transmission is associated with a rather extended aluminum single-sided swing arm located on the left. The output of the driveshaft is placed lower than in previous Moto Guzzi power units, according to the information.
