Moto Guzzi Griso Cup: the legend returns to the track at full speed

Moto Guzzi has decided to return to the racing scene in a big way and for this reason has decided to organize a brand new single-brand speed trophy, the Griso Cup. The competitions will start on 8 and 9 May in Magione (Pg), while the subsequent appointments are scheduled for 31 July and 1 August in Imola (Bo), 4 and 5 September again in Magione (Pg) and, finally, 23 and 24 October at the Franciacorta racetrack (Bs ). Moto Guzzi Grisos of any engine capacity, the 1200 S and the MGS 01 are allowed on the track.

For the participating Grisos and 1200 Ss, handlebars other than the standard one, the elimination of the front light and the fitting of a fairing are permitted. The chassis must necessarily be standard, and the tires as per homologation for road circulation as well as the brakes, suspension and engine must be standard. However, different exhaust and control units are accepted.

For the occasion, the Piaggio Group has prepared and put on sale a tuning kit for Griso (for the 2v and 8v models) consisting of silencer and dedicated control unit (eprom) and a conversion kit for the track including windshield, number plate and saucers, essential for the race. The creator of the project, in collaboration with Millepercento Moto srl, is Giuseppe Ghezzi, creator of the most beautiful Guzzi-based specials as well as the MGS 01.

The MGS 01, a motorbike born to race, was able to win in 2006, thanks to the skill of the rider Gianfranco Guareschi, the two heats of the BOT-Battle of Twins of the "Daytona Speed ​​Week", the most important race for twin-cylinder engines with no limits on displacement and modifications, in the presence of over 80.000 spectators, in the Formula 1 category, and also coming in second place in the Sound of Thunder category. But in the same year the winning pair also obtained the Italian SuperTwins Trophy.

It is precisely because of the characteristics and speed superiority of this motorbike that the Griso Cup Trophy regulations have established a special prize for the MGS 01 which will arrive first in every single race, despite not becoming part of the general classification.

Advantageous promotions await the competitors at the Griso Cup Speed ​​Trophy, in fact the Moto Guzzi World Club, the brand club, will give the first ten entries in the Trophy the Speed ​​License (cost 310 euros), while the Piaggio Group itself will give the first ten entries who complete all four scheduled races (registration cost for the races is 600 euros) will offer the complete kit at the price of 700 euros, i.e. with a 50% discount.

Finally, anyone wishing to purchase the new Griso 8 V and use it for the Trophy, in addition to the free kit and license, will be able to take advantage of an extra discount of 1.400 euros on the purchase price of the new motorbike.
