Concepts such as family, friendship, craftsmanship and experience emerge in the mind, observing and listening to the different testimonies in the film proposed by Moto Guzzi Official. Testimonials that underline as many aspects of a reality known throughout the world. A centenary brand.

The reality of Mandello del Lario

A brand with strong values deriving from a long tradition and a constant tendency to innovate, considering for example the most recent production made up of renewed models V7, V9 and the classic enduro V85 TT. There is also a sporting side, currently represented by Moto Guzzi Fast Endurance Trophy which from this year has European significance.
The centenary is remembered not only through a special Centenary Livery but will culminate in the 9 al September 12th with the proposed ones GMG – Moto Guzzi World Days a Mandello del Lario.

An iconic story

A hundred years have passed since long ago 15 March of the 1921 and from “Moto Guzzi Anonymous Company” oriented: “The manufacture and sale of motorcycles and any other activity pertaining or connected to the metalworking industry”, as mentioned.
The operational headquarters in Mandello del Lario remains the nerve center of this story. Plant from which several models came out such as the legendary GT 500 Norge of 1928 which reached the Arctic Circle driven by the brother of the founder Giuseppe Guzzi, but also the Airone 250 of 1939 and the Galletto of 1950, a protagonist example in the course of motorization of the post-war period. Among the interesting aspects is also the construction of a wind tunnel in that period. An advanced tool then, which was also the first in the world in the motorcycle sector. A choice of the team of technicians in which great names such as Umberto Todero, Enrico Cantoni and the legendary Milanese designer Giulio Cesare Carcano worked, who designed the Otto Cilindri engine capable of reaching 285 km/h way back in 1955 and the prototypes with which between 1935 and 1957 world speed titles and 14 Tourist Trophies were won in 11.
We also remember the production in the 60s and, after the Stornello and Dingo light motorcycles, the development of the iconic 90 cc 700° V-twin engine with shaft final transmission. Unit present on the V7 and other representative examples, which has become a connotative factor of production.
Also iconic is the symbol of the eagle with spread wings chosen by Carlo Guzzi and Giorgio Parodi also to remember their friend in arms Giovanni Ravelli. The three had been part of the Royal Navy Air Service and there they had thought about a future commitment in the motorcycle sector. Ravelli unfortunately disappeared in 1919 during a test flight and, also to remember him, the other two opted for the spread-winged eagle linked to Moto Guzzi.
