Mondial, an Italian brand founded in 1929, returns to the market with a very interesting product: the HPS 125 and 250. A vehicle that we had already encountered in 2015 at EICMA, with the name Hipster, before seeing it in the definitive version at Intermot 2016. Now the small scrambler is available and can be ordered in the 125 version, which will be joined by the 250 during 2017. A slim motorbike, with visible details and an aesthetic personality to be the envy of its larger colleagues. Spoked rims, semi-knobby tyres, short and high side exhaust, cantilevered license plate holder, tail with a "vintage" soul, with a small saddle, but capable of accommodating two people, mirrors mounted at the end of a low handlebar and the lower tip are the details that aesthetically characterize this motorbike.

The chassis is well taken care of and will be the same for both displacements. The motorcycle is equipped with a 41 mm upside-down front fork with a maximum travel of 90 mm and two rear shock absorbers, which allow a travel of 120 mm. To slow down safely, a braking system was chosen consisting of a 280 diameter front disc, on which a 4-piston caliper works and a 220 rear disc with a single-piston caliper. The tires measure 100/90 R18 at the front and 130/70 R17 at the rear. Mondial has decided to equip, for the smaller of the two HPS, a 125 single-cylinder engine (124,2 cc to be precise) with electronic injection, liquid cooling and 4-valve distribution, driven by a double overhead camshaft. This engine delivers the maximum power permitted by law, 15 horsepower, at 9.750 rpm and a maximum torque of 12,3 Nm at 7.500. The more muscular version, however, will be equipped with a 249 cc engine with electronic injection, liquid cooling and 4-valve distribution, but this time driven by a single camshaft. The maximum power will be 24 horsepower at 9.000 rpm and the peak torque of 7000 Nm will be reached at 12,3. For both versions the scale needle stops at 130 kg.

All this allows these straight-leg models to enter the small-displacement two-wheeler market, making them capable of ensuring maximum classic driving pleasure, both in traffic and on trips out of town, also relying on the modern technology of the materials used.
