Metzeler: “Take the Road” is the title of the 2016 calendar [PHOTO]

It is a tribute to the presence of motorcycling in the world of cinema

Metzeler – The 2016 Metzeler calendar is entitled “Take the Road” and celebrates, through a series of shots taken from films of the past and present, motorcycling and its history in the world of cinema. Now in its 23rd edition, the iconic calendar contains two versions, the Classics and the Contemporary, to offer the enthusiast the possibility of choosing between predominantly black and white images, which recall legendary films that have contributed to the history of cinema, and contemporary shots of film scenes that participated in the 2013, 2014 and 2015 editions of the Motorcycle Film Festival.

“Take the Road with ROADTEC 01”, the introduction campaign for the new Metzeler sport touring tire has a further stage in this calendar, after the “48 Hours on The Road”, the non-stop marathon of the best travel films of the Motorcycle Film Festival, which was the protagonist in Milan in November in the week dedicated to the world of two wheels. “Take the Road – A classic tale of wheels and reels” is the title of the Classics version which features on the cover an image of “No limit” by Monty Banks, a 1935 English musical comedy starring George Formby and filmed during the races of the Isle of Man TT the same year using real drivers as stuntmen. At the time the film was a great success with the public, so much so that a statue dedicated to George Formby still stands proudly in Douglas, on the Isle of Man.

The calendar, created in collaboration with the Motorcycle Film Festival thanks to the important support of the Italian distributor Rodaggio Film and printed in a limited edition of six thousand copies, has a format of 58 x 47 centimeters and is composed of a total of seven sheets of very high quality as well as a cardboard to divide the Classics version from the Contemporary one. The sheets were subjected to a 5+5 color printing process with matt litho paint on two sides on 250 weight Magno satin paper, the double-coated Invercote cardboard was 400 weight and was also printed with a 5+5 color process with matt litho varnish on two sides. The Metzeler calendar has always been a cult object for collectors but this year, for the first time, the tire brand has decided to make it accessible to those who want a copy to hang on the wall. Thanks to the exclusive partnership with Ace Cafe London, the 2016 Metzeler calendar can be purchased, until the hundred available copies are exhausted, directly on the website of the iconic and legendary English venue.
