METZELER ROADTEC 01 elected Best Sports Touring Tire

Beating the competition of even more recently introduced tires on the market, METZELER ROADTEC 01 was confirmed as the best Sport Touring tire by the authoritative English magazine MCN which declared it the winner of the 2017 Sport Touring tire comparison.

The comparison, to which the English newspaper dedicated a detailed and extensive article in the issue released on newsstands on Wednesday 7 June 2017, was organized independently by MCN at the Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground in Leicester in dry conditions with cloudy weather and a temperature average of 14 degrees. The magazine's editorial team specified that, even though the test was carried out on a circuit, the road surface of this track faithfully reproduces what can be found on the normal roads that a motorcyclist can travel on a daily basis. The test was carried out using a 700 Yamaha Tracer 2017 ABS driven by Bruce Dunn, MCN Performance tester with over 26 years of experience behind him and equipped with tires in the sizes 120/70 ZR 17 front and 180/55 ZR 17 rear.

This is the ranking drawn up by the English magazine with its final score:

Each set of tires was evaluated based on four values:

1) comfort
2) the feedback, also in terms of agility, returned by the front tire
3) the feedback transmitted from the rear
4) stability

Each of these four rating values ​​was assigned a score from 1 to 5 for a total of 20 points assignable to each set of tyres.
The METZELER ROADTEC™ 01 did not simply win the comparison but did so by obtaining the maximum score in each of the four values ​​taken into consideration and consequently achieving the maximum score, 20 out of 20.

As for the opinions on METZELER ROADTEC™ 01, MCN defines the comfort as "exceptional" declaring that with the METZELER "it almost seems as if the Yamaha Tracer has done a 3000 pound suspension upgrade". The front tire transmits an excellent feeling in all conditions and above all offers a very high level of sportiness which allows you to go into bends much more quickly than you would expect from a sport touring tyre. As regards the rear tyre, the English magazine praises the excellent level of grip which never fails and is indeed always present in abundance, offering the motorcyclist a feeling of extreme safety. Finally, regarding the last value, that of stability, Bruce Dunn declares that it is never lacking, whatever the conditions of use or the speed.

At the end of the test, the English magazine underlines how the METZELER ROADTEC™ 01 managed to maintain the scepter of the best Sport Touring tires "thanks to their overall ability to impressively transform the performance of a motorcycle in terms of handling and ride quality."
