METZELER – After successes at the Isle of Man TT and the North West 200, METZELER and Ian Hutchinson continue their good road racing season by taking four victories in the 2016 edition of the Ulster Grand Prix and setting the new lap record for the fastest race at world. Excellent results also for the other two METZELER riders Dan Kneen and William Dunlop, on the podium respectively in Superstock and Supersport.

The absolute protagonist of the races held on the Dundrod Circuit was Ian Hutchinson. The Tyco BMW team driver, equipped with grooved METZELER RACETEC RR tyres, won the Superstock class race after taking the lead on the final lap. Third position for the other METZELER driver Dan Kneen. Race 1 of the Supersport class immediately saw Hutchinson among the protagonists. After a splendid start, the METZELER rider astride the Yamaha of Team Traction Control Yamaha managed to obtain second position at the end of the first three laps, placing himself as one of the contenders for the final victory. However, the display of the red flag at the beginning of the fifth lap allowed Hutchinson to bring the METZELER colors to the second step of the podium.

The German-founded brand achieved a nice one-two in the second race of the Supersport class, won by Ian Hutchinson with just a tenth of an advantage over the other METZELER driver, William Dunlop. Hutchinson closed his 2016 Ulster Grand Prix in triumph by taking a double in Superbike: after the victory in Race 1, the British rider also managed to defeat the competition in the second race of the category, at the same time also setting a new lap record. Equipped with METZELER RACETEC RR Slick tires, Hutchinson stopped the clock at 3:18.704, becoming the fastest Road Racer in the world at 134,089 miles per hour.

The last event of the road racing season for METZELER will be the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix, scheduled for 17 to 20 November 2016.
