The data recorded in the month of March 2020, Namely 8.512 means registered considering scooters and motorbikes, indicates an obvious drop of the market equal to 66% compared to the same month last year. The value emerges from a press release released by Confindustria ANCMA (National Cycle, Motorcycle and Accessories Association). The variations in trends between scooters and motorbikes were also highlighted, in the first case the drop was 62,7% with 4.701 vehicles sold, while in the second the reduction amounted to 69,5% with 3.807 registrations. The same goes for mopeds, -62,4% and only 532 units sold, always reporting the information.

The percentages

Considering the first quarter of the year, in light of previous findings, the registration of scooters and motorbikes is overall in 24,7% decrease given the 41.298 vehicles sold, including 21.783 scooters (-21,9%) and 19.476 motorbikes registered (-27,6%). While mopeds, considering the 4.023 units verified, maintain a positive percentage equal to +8,2% compared to the first quarter of last year.
Paul Magri, President of Confindustria ANCMA (National Cycle, Motorcycle and Accessories Association), when commenting on these values, remember that before the “locked” linked to DPCM March 11, 2020, although there were still some limitations, the trend of the motorcycle market was still positive by 2% compared to the same period of 2019. The figure for scooters was even higher, growing by 30%. Only mopeds fell by 7%.
The President of Confindustria ANCMA then underlines the suffering of the entire supply chain of the world of two wheels, which also includes pedal vehicles, electric vehicles, quadricycles and technical accessories, adding: “Confindustria ANCMA has never stopped working and being present at every table to represent and defend the sector at all Italian and community institutional levels.” A dialogue with the institutions also in view of the restart.
