Motorcycle and Scooter market, November data is still positive

Motorcycle and Scooter Market – Registrations continue on the virtuous path with 8.022 vehicles sold, equal to +8,8% compared to November last year. The motorbikes, always positive for 23 months now, consolidate a notable progress with 2.909 units and a +25,7%, while scooters with higher volumes – equal to 5.1130 units – confirm last year's volumes with +1,1%. Similar trend for the "fifties" with 1.253 registrations, showing a growth of +4,6%. November is worth on average about 4% of the total sales for the year.

The global economic picture presents positive signs, despite political uncertainties, thanks to industrial production and the trend of orders. Decimals also increasing for employment and family income; Orders from abroad also resume, while the situation of non-performing bank loans remains critical. Finally, the propensity to consume remains very prudent." he has declared Corrado Capelli, President of Confindustria ANCMA (National Association of Cycle and Motorcycle Accessories).

From January to November 2016, 185.145 vehicles were registered, with an increase of +11,4% compared to the first 11 months of last year. Scooters totaled 112.916 units, with an increase of +7,2%, while motorbikes reached 72.229 units with an increase of +18,6%. The "fifties" from January to November totaled 21.868 registrations with a -1,6%, compared to 2015. The overall market for Italian motorized two-wheelers (registered motorcycles and scooters + 50cc vehicles) in the first 11 months of 2015 therefore amounted to 207.013 vehicles, equal to +9,8% compared to the same period last year. In the scooter sector, the analysis by displacement consolidates the affirmation of 125cc scooters with 41.879 sales, equal to +11,6%, while the 150-250cc with 27.663 units rose by +5,5%. The other important segment, the 300-500cc segment, also improved, with 35.208 scooters equal to +4,5%. Finally, maxi scooters over 500cc with 8.166 units show an increase of +3,6% compared to the same period of the year
last year.

In motorbikes the trends are all positive: the main sector of 800-1000 cc with 21.401 sales increased by +19,8%; closely followed by the maxi over 1000cc with 20.289 vehicles sold and a result of +9,5%. The intermediate displacements between 650 and 750cc with 12.350 units have a growth of +11,4%, while the segment of motorcycles from 300 to 600cc with 9.601 units achieved a surge of +42,1%; 150-250cc motorcycles with 2.4905 sales marked a +22,5%. The development of the 125cc models was notable with 6.098 units sold, equal to +32,6%, underlining a renewed interest from new, younger users. In terms of motorcycle segments, the naked bikes established themselves in first place with 25.343 units and a growth of +21%, followed by the road enduro bikes which with 24.031 sales recorded a +27,3%. Customs are in third place, making progress with 6.736 bikes and +11,4%; touring motorbikes with 8.555 vehicles achieved +4,1%; only sports cars are suffering with 3.755 units and -2,7%. Finally, supermotards with 2.732 bikes are making a strong recovery with a +39,1%.
