Market, motorcycles and scooters: +8,4% in December

A growth of 23,98% in December compared to the same period of 2019, considering registered motorbikes and scooters: 7.630 vehicles sold. Evaluating the two-wheel market (registered + mopeds) there are 9.140 vehicles, with an overall increase of 8,42% as indicated in the press release reported by ANCMA.

Le motorcycle are the protagonists, taking into account an increase of 46,03% and 4.029 units registered. The performance of the companies is also good scooter with 3.601 vehicles and a growth of 6,07%. The exhaustion of incentives for electric vehicles, as reported, causes a sharp slowdown for mopeds. Sector in which the incidence of zero emission engines is greater than 20% of sales. In December, considering mopeds, there was a decline of 33,66% with 1.510 units.
At the end of last year, as anticipated, a recovery of the volumes lost in light of the pandemic was recorded. 218.626 vehicles were placed on the market, corresponding to a decrease of 5,76%. The motorcycle sector suffers a less significant gap compared to last year, evaluating a figure of -4,86% with 94.108 vehicles registered. Instead, the decline in scooters was -6,43%, given the 124.518 vehicles registered. The exhaustion of resources for electric incentives affects the balance sheet of mopeds, as mentioned, considering a figure of -3,02% in the "fifties" market with 19.746 units. Overall, 238.372 two-wheeled vehicles were introduced last year with a decrease of 5,54%, as reported.
Finally the view electric, despite the already mentioned early exhaustion of the incentives with a decline of 41,93% in this specific market and recording 777 vehicles purchased in the month of December, 10.753 vehicles of this type were introduced in 2020 with a significant increase: 84,54% compared to the year 2019.
