Motorcycle and scooter market: +11,8% in May 2023

For the fifth month in a row the numbers communicated by Confindustria ANCMA (National Association of Cycle and Motorcycle Accessories) show a double-digit increase, reiterating the positive progress of two-wheeled motorized vehicle market in 2023. A trend which, based on the latest sales data collected by ACEM, the European manufacturers' association, highlights our country as the first market in the Eurozone. The moped and motorcycle market is growing. In May, despite the bad weather, a solid was recorded + 11,8 % on the same period last year.

The data

The cumulative, considering the first five months of 2023, rises by a fifth with growth of 20,6%, compared to the same period in 2022. 159.069 specimens are entered. The result of scooters is significant, with an increase of 29,56% and 78.872 units. The result of the motorbikes was also good with an increase of 15,13% and 72.510 units. There is also a recovery in the moped market from a deficit of 34% in January to a decline of 4,38% in May, with the entry of 7.687 vehicles.
In the field electric an equally flattering result is highlighted, which appears to no longer be subject to the uncertainty of the beginning of the year. In May there was an increase of 44,84% for electric models and 1.809 models marketed, considering the trend of mopeds. Also considering the volumes brought by the orders, there is a growth trend of 136,76% and 876 vehicles.
Talking about the market of May, therefore, rises by 11,84% compared to the same period in 2022, with 42.884 specimens registered. A substantial balance was established between the segments: an increase in the scooter panorama of 12,2% with 22.372 vehicles; a growth also for motorcycle volumes of 11,38% and 18.198 registrations, therefore a recovery also in the moped market, as mentioned. After a difficult start in 2023, they grew by 12% in the month with 2.314 specimens.
