Motorcycle and scooter market, ANCMA: growth of 26,6% in March 2023

The trend remains positive two-wheeled motorized vehicle market. A liveliness confirmed in the month of March, given an overall growth of 26,6% on the same month last year. Monthly registration data, proposed by Confindustria ANCMA (National Association of Cycle and Motorcycle Accessories), reiterate the progress of recent months with a double-digit increase in scooters and motorbikes, while a decline in mopeds and electric vehicles is noted.

Growth was double-digit in the first quarter of the year, considering 64.689 specimens entered, with an increase of 27,61%. In the cumulative annual figure, the result of the scooters is highlighted, in light of the 39.811 registered examples with a growth of 45,39%. The result of the motorbikes is also notable, given the 38.976 registrations and a jump of 18,99%. For three months in a row, however, the trend of mopeds decreased and the first quarter ended with a decrease of 17,3% with the introduction of 3.763 units.
Even moving on to electric vehicles, for the third consecutive month the market is negative. There was a decline of 25,26% in the last month, which corresponds to 1.098 units sold. Remembering March 2022 and that strong 65% increase, the comparison appears even clearer. The scooter sector of this sector is in trouble with a decline of 27,88% in March. Considering the year, for electric vehicles there was a decline of 16,97% with 2.808 vehicles.
Returning to March, there was a growth of a quarter in sales volumes in the month, compared to the same period in 2022. A growth percentage of 26,66%. The growth of the scooter offering continues, driving the market thanks to 17.777 units, an increase of 31,5%. The progress of motorbikes was also positive with 18.221 registered units and a growth of 25,82%. Mopeds were negative, as mentioned, given a drop of 5,72% and 1.548 units in total.
