Motorcycle market – 4.856 registrations equal to +11,6% compared to December 2014, with scooters accelerating with 3.259 units (+18%), a volume more than double compared to motorcycles which with 1.597 units recorded +0,5%. These are the encouraging Ancma data that photograph the month of December in the motorcycle sector.

Even the registrations of 50cc vehicles are in contrast with the trend of 2015 and with 1.160 vehicles are growing by +6,2%. December accounts for just under 3% of sales for the entire year. In total for the year 2015, registrations (vehicles with a displacement greater than 50cc) showed a good trend in Italy, with 171.043 units equal to +9,6% compared to 2014 and with all months showing a positive sign with the sole exception of March. 62.449 registrations for motorbikes, +14,4%, while scooters reached 108.594 units, representing almost two thirds of Italian registrations, +7%. The "fifties" stopped at 23.392 registered vehicles, with a decrease of -12,5%. The overall total of Italian motorized two-wheelers (registered motorcycles and scooters + 50cc vehicles) in 2015 it finally returned to positive territory with 194.435 vehicles sold, equal to +6,3% compared to 2014.

Worth underlining is the notable result of the 125cc segment with the highest volumes, equal to 38.920 units and +15,1% compared to 2014. In second place we find scooters between 300 and 500cc with 34.642 units and a +6%, while the 150-200cc confirm their volumes with 22.918 registrations equal to -0,7%, while the 250cc are slightly recovering with 4.143 sales which it means +3,3%. Maxi scooters over 500cc were stable, with 7.971 vehicles recording a +0,4%. As regards registered motorbikes, 2015 confirmed the higher volumes of over 1000cc with 18.927 registrations, but with a lower than average growth of +2,3%. The displacements between 800 and 1000cc are much more dynamic with 18.160 units and an increase of +38,5%. Finally, the more than positive trend of touring motorbikes is interesting with 5.731 units equal to +21,2%.
