Marco Melandri ignites on the first day of World Ducati Week. The number 33 of Team Aruba Ducati he was the first guest of the big red party that is taking place in Misano to meet the press and fans. The opportunity was good to take stock of the Superbike championship, but also to talk about the news coming from Borgo Panigale.

Marco, after a great start, your season has taken a more negative turn. How come? What can we expect when you get back on track?

“Unfortunately, after a good start we had some stability problems. It had never happened to me that I didn't go straight in a straight line. We worked hard and managed to solve our problems. We achieved some good results but we lacked continuity."

What is the main problem you face.

“The regulation that limits the number of engine revolutions unfortunately penalized us more than others. Now other races await us and we hope to do well."

The wait will be long…

“In fact, two months of stoppage seems a bit too much to me. We are professionals and trained, but the risk is that of returning to the track and having blisters on our hands. Jokes aside, it's another thing in the regulation that should be changed."

Also because Rea on the Kawasaki is flying away in the rankings.

“Unfortunately for us it's a combination that works well. There are situations in which rider and bike find each other perfectly. I believe that there are no phenomena and that we are all human beings, which is why we will fight until the end."

Next are the last races of V2. Have you already tried V4?

“No, only the test drivers tried it. I think the final version will come later. Those who work at home will think about next season, we will still think about this one. But tomorrow we will compete in the Race of Champions."

And it will be a great performance…

“No exhibition. They will all race to the death, it is the most important race of the year (laughs, ed.)”.
