The main objective of the joint venture between Magneti Marelli and Hero is to build a portfolio of advanced solutions for the engine control of two or three-wheeled vehicles, which by exploiting the added value of electronics allow us to raise the technological level of the available solutions. For this reason the new Manesar site will focus on production of powertrain and electronic injection technologies, aimed mainly at the Indian market. Magneti Marelli will make its advanced technologies available to Hero in electronic engine management, which also include the ride by wire system, which allows electronic management of the power request from the engine, optimizes its operation and constitutes the technological basis necessary to enable future and possible hybrid propulsion solutions for two-wheelers.

The production of Hero motorcycles in calendar year 2014 was over 6,64 million units (+8% compared to 2013), in a rapidly growing market, that of South-East Asia, as demonstrated by the estimate of over 15 million units sold every year. With the inauguration of this new facility Magneti Marelli further strengthens an already consolidated presence in India, where since 2007 it has replicated its industrial perimeter with ten plants.
