LS2 FF900 Valiant II: a new helmet that combines safety and design [PHOTO]

The new helmet LS2 FF900 Valiant II it is a conceptual evolution of the previous one FF399 Valiant, evaluating safety and comfort.

Features

Complies with European approval standards ECE 22.05, the new designer helmet LS2 has a marking DOT for the overseas market and double approval P / J, usable both as a helmet integral, both as a helmet jet. The chin guard can be folded down 180°, using only one hand as indicated.
There are two dimensions of the external shell and five of the internal one EPS, in total eight different sizes ranging from XXS a 3XL.
The equipment includes a reinforced strap and a micrometric chromed metal closure, which prevents it from coming loose in the event of an impact, and reflective inserts in the lower parts of the padding, promoting visibility for other users on the road. There is also a small padded space inside the helmet, allowing the use of sunglasses or prescription glasses.
On the chin guard there is a “chin strap”, a fabric element made up of different types of materials that attenuates external noise and protects the rider from turbulent and low temperatures. Instead, moving on to ventilation, another functional factor of a helmet, we highlight the presence of a central air intake in the chin guard and two other intakes in the upper part of the shell, together with those located in the rear area and on the sides. These allow functional air flows to enter inside. The inner shell, also known as EPS, is channeled by promoting circulation, also known as Venturi effect. The class A polycarbonate visor has also been updated with anti-scratch treatment and protection from UVA rays. The mechanism for removing it is also interesting, considering only one click for detachment, facilitating cleaning or replacement, as indicated. The equipment also includes an internal sun visor, which can be removed from the lower part of the helmet, as on other models of the manufacturer. Also in this case, the helmet is designed for the insertion of a communication system.

Typology

Aesthetically the volume appears more compact and the chin guard more combined with the aforementioned refined opening mechanism. The weight is limited to 1.600 grams. The padded fabrics inside have been renewed, also functional in terms of wearability and breathability. This new example appears in the Urban Commuter segment of LS2, i.e. modular helmets that can be used in different contexts and throughout the seasons. A model designed for motorcyclists who ride maxi scooters in the city or tackle longer, more complex routes in the saddle. One of the most versatile models designed by the Iberian brand, as highlighted.

Prices and variations

The proposal linked to Valiant II features a five-year warranty and a price of 319 € in the monochromatic variant, 349 € instead for the decorated one. The price of the Noir or Full Black specimen, however, amounts to 339 €. Therefore there are various decorations and versions, from those only in white or in glossy black, then two models in matte finish in black and titanium. A Jeans version is also mentioned and the matching decorations are peculiar, for example the combination of a matte black shell with a chin guard in fluorescent colors and a shiny finish. The models are offered in a camouflage backpack, as reported again.
