LiveMap – A Russian company said it received the equivalent of almost 190.000 € in the form of a grant from the Russian Ministry of Science to finance his new helmet with head-up display.

The LiveMap is a voice-activated helmet, currently in development, that can project a see-through GPS navigation directly onto the helmet's visor, allowing the rider to keep their eyes on the road. The CEO Andrew Artishchev he says the concept is similar to the technology found in modern cars fighter planes, in which a translucent color image is projected onto the visor in the center of the pilot's field of vision, which is the point where the LiveMap is best seen.

The projection takes place directly on the visor eliminating thus the also the need for a separate display. The LiveMap will have a production version slightly larger than a conventional helmet to be able to accommodate the necessary projection hardware and integrated speakers.

Two 3000 mAh batteries will power the helmet and can last for a whole day driving, at least according to the company that is creating the LiveMap project. A working prototype should be released already in spring, followed by a production version that will go on sale in the United States in summer, at a price of 2.000 dollars. Customers who place a pre-order immediately will receive $500 off.
