A couple of days ago we wrote about the strategy implemented by Lambretta Consortium to protect yourself from suspected counterfeiting attempts. In a note, the Consortium launched harsh accusations against distributors and two former licensees, Motom e Clag, who wasted no time in sending a prompt reply in which they reiterate that there has been no counterfeiting. The legal battle over ownership of the brand is enriched by a new version of who was involved.

From the Ansa website we report the communication from Motom and Clag: “il Lambretta brand it was sold in 1972 by the Innocenti family, the former owner of the same, to the Indian company Scooters India. That in 2006 this company granted a license to use the Lambretta brand to the English company Fine White Line. Which in 2010 Fine White Line, through its sister company Lambretta Scooters Ltd, granted a sub-license to use the Lambretta brand to Motom Electronics Group and Clag International for the motorcycle sector".

“The Court of Milan – continues the note – has already established, with three provisions, that the Lambretta trademark of the SIL company is valid and not lapsed and has decided that there are no reasons to consider the sub-licensing contract for use of the trademark terminated Lambretta stipulated between Meg and Lambretta Scooters Ltd”. The statement continues by saying that the two companies will not be intimidated by the Consortium's intentions and will continue to relaunch the Lambretta brand in the world, of which they reiterate that they are the only legitimate licensees.
