The Beta range is completed with the arrival of the new RR 125 2T MY 2018The Beta range is completed with the arrival of the new RR 125 2T MY 2018

This is a completely new project, the result of long development and aimed at completing the 2T range which now allows a range of choices ranging from 50 cc. intended for fourteen-year-olds, to move on to the new 125 cc. and then continue with the bigger sisters 250/300 cc. 2T and 350/390/430/480 cc. 4T. The RR 125 2T MY 2018 has a racing spirit and is intended for the Junior and Youth categories of the Enduro World Championship and for the Cadet, Junior and E1 categories of the Italian Enduro Championship, as well as for all the categories reserved for small 2Ts of the various national championships. The Beta baby can count on Euro 4 approval also intended for those who have just turned 16 and wish to try their hand at Enduro races. The new bike was previewed during the Press Presentation of the Enduro my 2018 range and will be presented to the public at Eicma 2017 before going into production immediately afterwards.

Motor

This is the smallest engine in the Enduro range currently produced internally at the Rignano factories. The result of a long design and development phase, carried out entirely within the technical office and R&D department, it is characterized by a specific and particular layout, aimed at optimizing the distribution of masses and the fluid dynamics of the engine. The relative position of the main parts, crankshaft and primary gearbox, has in fact made it possible to compact the longitudinal dimensions and improve engine breathing at all operating speeds; in this way an engine was obtained which makes the great linearity and progressiveness of delivery its strong point; this feature, difficult to find in small displacements, allows full use of the engine right from the lowest revs, mitigating the characteristic torque bump, which is particularly annoying in small displacements with high specific power.

There are many distinctive features of this engine, among which we remember:

• Double-ring piston (ø 54 mm): component designed to guarantee high rigidity and reliability; the choice of the double band is functional to better grip at the low and medium speeds characteristic of Enduro use.
• Beta progressive valve: system deriving from the RR 2T 250 and 300 cc. characterized by a particular relationship between the opening of the main flap and that of the side boosters. The delay in opening the boosters allows the engine excellent performance progression over the entire range of use.
• Drive shaft with polyamide inserts: maintains high lightness values and guarantees excellent filling of the pump crankcase for the benefit of performance and reliability.
• Cylinder: features an exhaust flange system like the 2018 my larger displacements which allows for better control of the frontal piston-flap-cylinder clearance. By keeping this value to a minimum it is possible to obtain a considerable increase in performance at low rpm by reducing gas leakage.
• Detachable aluminum head: rigid and light solution made possible thanks to the movement of the motor attachment on the cylinder. The geometry of the combustion chamber is designed to guarantee high efficiency of the thermodynamic cycle and to obtain the best compromise between response at medium/low speeds and extension. It is also easier to set up and replace the combustion chamber.
• Die-cast aluminum alloy crankcases: the geometries of the crankcases have been studied according to an innovative layout in terms of the relative position of the parts and with a view to maximum weight reduction without compromising structural resistance. Particular attention has been paid to the main bearing area to guarantee the correct rigidity of the walls in order to withstand the stresses transmitted by the crankshaft.
• Die-cast magnesium alloy crankcase covers: guarantee extremely low weight and excellent surface finish. It was also possible to adopt this solution for the internal clutch cover thanks to the isolation of the water pump from this element.
• Vforce4 reed valve pack: the presence of stoppers guarantees great reliability without compromising performance.
• 6-speed gearbox with front clutches: specially developed for this engine with gears obtained through mechanical processing of forged blanks in order to offer mechanical resistance and reliability, while maintaining extremely reduced weight and overall dimensions.
• Clutch: multi-disc in oil bath with inverted opening with actuator integrated in the external cover. It is a system designed for maximum lightness and compactness of the engine and which, thanks to its low positioning, guarantees the reduction of the size of the engine and a significant centralization of the masses, which are very important for good vehicle dynamics.
• Electric starting: the engine is designed to accommodate (as an accessory) a Bendix starter and clutch, completely integrated into the crankcase layout in a protected position.

Vehicle

The vehicle partially derives from its bigger sisters, but was developed specifically to optimize the behavior of the engine-chassis assembly.
The frame, in chrome molybdenum with a double cradle structure split above the exhaust port, has been redesigned for the small cubic capacity by reviewing the main dimensions and guaranteeing optimal positioning of the engine. This solution has made it possible to amplify the distinctive characteristics of the RR family, such as great handling and ease of driving - even more noticeable thanks to the reduced weight of the vehicle - combined with important stability qualities.

Among the numerous innovations adopted on this motorbike we remember:

• Geometry of the new upper attachments: various solutions were studied and developed until the final one was reached which made it possible to reduce the vibrations generated by the engine while maintaining a significant rigidity value of the engine-chassis system.
• Sachs suspension: derived from the rest of the RR range but with dedicated setting. At the front there is a 48 mm diameter open cartridge fork.
• Exhaust system: in order to optimize the characteristic torque and power curves of the 2-stroke engine, the Beta R&D department has developed a special system dedicated to enduro use.
• Filter box sleeve: designed for the 125 cc engine, it allows to improve delivery throughout the entire operating range, starting from low speeds.
• Engine protection: made of polyamide to combine resistance and lightness, it offers excellent shielding against the entry of mud between the engine and the protection.
• Petrol tank: a slightly smaller tank has been adopted to improve ergonomics on board the vehicle while maintaining sufficient autonomy.
• Cooling system: designed specifically for this motorbike, it features new pipes and radiators with specially shaped tanks to adapt to the small size of the motorbike.
• Nissin braking system: extremely powerful and modular, the same that equips the rest of the Enduro range.
• Colors and graphics same as the rest of the RR my 2018 range.
