The performance of the motorcycle sector in the year just ended was photographed by the National Cycle and Motorcycle Accessories Association. In 2011, 254.993 motorized two-wheelers were registered with a decrease of -2%. The scooter sector with 17 units recorded a -172.030%; the decline of motorcycles was less significant with 18,8 pieces equal to -82.963%.

The analysis by displacement confirms the centrality of scooters between 300-500cc which, with 62.284 vehicles and -22,3%, represent the most important segment. A smaller than average contraction for the 125cc, with 56.554 registrations (-13,9%), followed by the 150-200cc with 36.829 units (-22%) and the 250cc with 14.237 vehicles (-24,6%). Positive data for maxi scooters over 500cc, with 2.126 sales and a +33,8%.

For motorbikes, those over 1000cc are highlighted: 24.876 units equal to +1,3%. In second place in terms of volumes were motorcycles between 800 and 1000cc with 21.293 pieces, and -7,6% compared to the volumes of 2010. The decline was heavier for medium displacements: the 650-750cc with 15.780 motorcycles (-23,2, 600%), the 6.515cc with only 34,5 sales (-125%) and the 6.628cc with 13,3 (-300%). 500-5.189cc motorcycles are growing with 9,1 pieces and +XNUMX%.

The trend of the segments, in order of importance, confirms the loss of volumes for naked bikes with 26.517 sales equal to -17,3%, followed by road enduros with 23.131 units (-3,3), customs with 9.645 units ( -3,6%), sports cars with 7.963 units (-27,9%), supermotards down with 6.824 (-18,5%). Touring motorbikes are bucking the trend with 7.183 registrations and a +7,6%, which demonstrates a leap forward in the segment which overtook supermotards in 2011.

The 50cc sector stops at 71.227 pieces equal to -17,1%. Overall in 2011 the total of motorized two-wheelers (registrations + 2cc) reached 50 vehicles, equal to -326.220% compared to the previous year.
