The motorization

The technological evolution of Kymco MyRoad 700 mainly concerns the heart of the vehicle: the parallel twin-cylinder with liquid cooling is completely new and developed by the KYMCO R&D department and offers, when compared to single-cylinder engines, a completely new level of performance and refinement.
Thanks to perfectly tuned intake and exhaust systems, MyRoad 700 develops a power of almost 59 HP at 7.250 rpm with an exuberant torque of 62,7 Nm at just 6.000 rpm. The twin-cylinder engine configuration and the balancing countershaft ensure that this great performance is not disturbed by excessive vibrations, for an always smooth and comfortable ride.

The crankshaft is "monolithic" in order to have a very rigid and stress-resistant component. The connecting rods are of the separable type and work on bushings in order to reduce friction as much as possible. The four valves of each cylinder are moved by a pair of camshafts through the interposition of buckets. The latest generation closed-cycle electronic injection fuel system with lambda probe ensures, in addition to greater driving fluidity at every speed, respect for the environment and lower consumption. Thanks to the reduced consumption and the 15-litre tank, the autonomy is excellent, also perfect for weekend trips or trips out of town, thus keeping faith with the Sport Tourer concept. In order to drastically reduce unsprung masses, the engine is fixed in the frame. The CVT transmission is hinged to the engine via highly advanced roller bearings which reduce play to a minimum.

The chassis

The development of the new MyRoad 700 represented the ideal opportunity for Kymco to design a chassis that kept pace with engine technology and at the same time maintained excellent handling and safety characteristics. MyRoad 700 is not just a vehicle suitable for commuting, but a scooter capable of offering authentic driving pleasure even on extra-urban and motorway routes.
The robust frame with central tunnel and double plate fork legs ensures solidity and an extremely rigorous front end at all speeds. The rear wheel with a 14-inch rim and a large section tire (160/60), adopted to offer great road holding and to better filter the roughness of the road surface, are to the full advantage of comfort and driving pleasure. The front rim is 15 inches and also mounts a 120/70 motorcycle section tyre.

Also new is the fork with 41 mm diameter stanchions and optimized smoothness, which offers more precise guidance even at high speed. The 5-position adjustable rear shock absorbers allow anyone to find the right setting for the most diverse driving conditions.

MCS (MyRoad Control System) electronic suspension

Exclusive to MyRoad 700 is the electronic adjustment system for the front and rear suspension. The suspension adjustment button is located on the right block, next to the start button. To change the suspension adjustment, simply press the button cyclically and check the setting using the instrument indicator.
Based on different driving styles and comfort, it is possible to adjust the suspensions in three positions: S “Soft” position; M “Middle” position; H “Hard” position. The electronic adjustment acts on the hydraulic part of the suspension. It is also possible to mechanically adjust the preload of the rear shock absorbers using the appropriate ring nut.

Braking system: ABS as standard

Speaking of active safety, the MyRoad 700 braking system is characterized by a powerful triple disc braking system equipped as standard with an ABS anti-locking system. The powerful floating calipers improve braking effectiveness and sensitivity in all conditions. The brain of the ABS system is represented by a high-speed electronic control unit which checks the status of both brakes and controls a hydraulic pressure distributor. The ABS control unit constantly monitors the sensors mounted on the brake calipers which track and verify the rotation speed of a pair of tone wheels mounted on the rims.

If there is an insignificant change in speed between the front and rear wheels, even such that it cannot be perceived by the driver, the control unit intervenes on the distributor by initiating a rapid change in braking pressure which allows smooth deceleration, avoiding any locking of the tyres. All of this happens with such rapidity that it prevents the tire from slipping before this eventuality actually begins. The ABS system is of vital importance especially when friction conditions are poor, as happens in the wet, on cobblestones or when crossing metal plates, allowing all drivers to exploit the full braking potential of the vehicle. The ABS control unit has a self-diagnosis program that constantly monitors the main electronic and hydraulic components of the system.

Equipment and supplies

The analogue/digital instrumentation is complete with every indication and has a true flagship automotive appearance. The saddle itself has a particularly ergonomic shape, arranged on two different levels for the passenger and rider, offering lumbar support for the latter. To further optimize the load capacity of MyRoad 700, Kymco has provided a drawer in the back of the shield and a small compartment at the tip of the saddle, both useful for storing small objects. To increase comfort, the passenger footrests can be removed using a convenient lever that can be operated from the rear shield. Even in terms of protection, MyRoad 700 is a scooter suited to the times. The multifunction ignition lock, which acts on the starting of the scooter, on the steering lock and on the opening of the saddle, is protected by the smartlock system, a mechanical armor that makes life really hard for thieves and criminals.
