KYMCO AK550 Premium: a new version that supports comfort and transmits sportiness [PHOTO]

The specimen KYMCO AK550 Premium it is a new variant that joins the model AK550 ETS, distinguishable frommore tourer setting, given a new aerodynamic profile of the front shield and a larger electric windshield, adjustable via a control. A version aimed at enthusiasts who like to tackle long routes, taking into account factors such as comfort, safety and dynamic liveliness.

Coated in one colorway Sand Scalve Matt, the chassis remains the same as the AK550 model, consisting of an aluminum frame to which the engine is centrally combined, therefore still a 41 mm double-plate hydraulic telescopic front fork with 120 mm travel and behind it a double-swinging swingarm in aluminium.
The dimensions are more or less unchanged: 2.200 millimeters in length with a wheelbase of 1.580 mm, 795 mm wide and 1.494 mm in height. The saddle equipped with an adjustable passenger backrest is far from the ground 790 mmFurthermore, the compartment with adjustable courtesy light can accommodate a full-face helmet and opens electrically via a dedicated button in the control area. It also features a front storage compartment on the right side, with a protective cover that can be opened via a button.
The reported weight is 238 kg. Among the new features we highlight a light and narrow belt transmission, which contains the unsprung masses favoring an optimal weight distribution: 50/50.
The braking system with a Bosch 9.1 dual-channel ABS system consists of a double 270 mm diameter front disc and a single 260 mm rear disc, together with Brembo calipers.
The model is also equipped with 15-inch five-spoke light alloy wheels shod with 120/70-15 and 160/60-15 tyres.

Technological aspects

The instrumentation is digital on LCD screen, there is various visible information and there is also a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and a Noodoe navigation system. The equipment also includes the aforementioned electronically adjustable windshield via control, heated grips, USB socket and a parking brake.
The goodwill is second generation keyless, there is no starter rotor replaced by a central "click and go" ignition button which disengages the electric steering lock. The previous options linked to the knob selector are replaced by separate buttons on the back shield.
The control station has also been updated with the key blocks redesigned to manage the new functions.
The accelerator features a ETS control system, Electronic Throttle System, also known by the expression Ride by Wire, used to manage the new Traction Control TCS. Traction Control debuts on this model, added to the already mentioned Noodoe navigation system and Cruise Control. Also included as standard is theAIBS Advanced Intelligent Brake System with Cornering ABS function.
Le driving mode There are three proposals, choosing between “Sport” with TCS active, “Sport” with TCS deactivated and a modality “Rain” with TCS active.

Propulsive part

The engine is always one 550 cc horizontal twin eight-valve engine with liquid cooling and belt final drive.
Maximum power reaches altitude 51 horses (37,5 kW) at 7.500 rpm and the torque peak is 52,3 Nm at 5.750 rpm. The specimen can reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h. The AK550 Premium example can be driven with an A license and, upon request, a variant aimed at A2 license holders is also available.
