KTM SX-E 5: the launch of the electric minicross signed by the Austrian brand [PHOTO]
Designed for little pilots
The new KTM SX-E 5 it represents a result of the experience gained by the Austrian company in the field of electric mobility. A minicross for very young riders, with a character comparable to that of the KTM 50SX a 2 times, considering the indications.
The quality characteristics
Already active in the creation of low voltage motors with peak powers ranging between 4 e 18 kW, evaluating the most restrictive safety standards, a dedicated Research and Development team is engaged on the electrical development front. This KTM SX-E 5 summarizes an interesting historical page of the manufacturer Matthighofen.
The small racing cross is equipped with a chassis that allows two different configurations. The saddle height can vary by choosing between 698 millimeters or 653 mm, thinking about the growth of young drivers. Therefore a minicross for riders aged between 3 and 10 years. Also mentioned is an additional kit that allows you to further lower the saddle height to height 556 mm.
The suspensions of the KTM SX-E 5 they are the same as those present on models driven by thermal engines, i.e. an air fork WP XACT 35 with 205 mm of travel and a shock absorber WPXACT extension, as reported. Other aspects highlighted also include: a steel frame CrMo high resistance, a dumbbell Neken in aluminum with variable section, die-cast footrests and disc brakes. Developed according to a similar process to that of the models SX, taking the indications again, the push (a peak of 5 kW) is provided by an electric motor powered by a lithium ion battery pack (907 kW). There is also a protective casing. Six "riding modes", ranging from modes that allow a progressive approach to one of full power, to evaluate consistency and talent. A full charge within a period of time is indicated 70 minutes (80% in 60 minutes), therefore a variable autonomy from two hours a 25 minutes based on the use made by the pilot.
Availability and price
Offered in autumn at points of sale KTM authorized, reported a price of 5.050 Euros “to which 379 Euros must be added for the battery charger”, as indicated.
