KTM SC-Duke, a scooter also for the Austrian manufacturer?

They seem to have awakened from the silence that had characterized them in recent months: from the end of 2009, in fact, the chatter regarding the development of a 1,0 liter maxi-scooter by the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM had ended in a sort of hibernation. Today, however, it seems that what is called KTM SC-Duke is increasingly probable: also interesting in relation to the fact that Ducati has just announced that it has the same idea in its pocket, as BMW Motorrad and Honda showed at Eicma 2010 .

The new frontier of the development of the Austrian manufacturer KTM, after the arrival of Indian investors (Bajaj has a minority shareholding), could be that of large scooters. KTM would also make this product, SC-Duke, with its usual desire to impose itself for its mechanical qualities and characteristics: here the engine speaks for itself: 999 cubic centimeters, 98 horsepower and 90 Nm of maximum torque, the same one that equips KTM 990 SuperDuke. It is a 75° V-twin engine, liquid-cooled, combined, here on the KTM SC-Duke, with a six-speed sequential automatic gearbox, the latter featuring the possibility of choosing between three different operating modes , which can be triggered through the selector called COR (acronym for City, Open and Road, the three different parameters we were talking about).

Other data are hypothetical: the new KTM SC-Duke scooter could be equipped with a steel frame and aluminum subframe, 320 mm front disc brakes with four-piston Brembo calipers and 240 mm rear ones (like Super Duke), 17 inches, WP forks and mono (like Super Duke) and so on. At a price slightly less than 10.000 euros.
