KTM RC 8C: a new exclusive motorbike usable on the track presented [PHOTO]

100 copies expected

The new KTM RC8C it is a model designed to savor the emotions of the track. Just plan 100 unit characterized by high-quality chassis and components.

The specialised farming model

A motorcycle developed in collaboration with Krämer Motorcycles with defined ergonomics considering a functional riding position and the possibility of making adjustments. The specimen is characterized by superstructures in fiberglass strengthen with carbon-kevlar panels and the appearance recalls the KTM RC16 from competition, looking for example at the fairing, the appendages, the development of the bodywork, the components are designed to be removed and repositioned, as well as functional protections.
The half-handlebar supports are adjustable and CNC machined and it is possible to vary the angle of the half-handlebars, with laser-engraved marks of over 30 degrees and a height management of 25 millimeters and a width of 30 mm.
The footrest supports are also CNC machined, adjustable and interchangeable. The footrests can be adjusted in height by 66 mm in 3 steps and an eccentric support on the frame allows you to set the saddle height in two positions. The features also include a 16-litre tank integrated into the self-supporting tail. This can be emptied via a quick fuel hose connector, allowing consumption measurements on the track and facilitating emptying for transport or maintenance. The configuration with tank, rear subframe and saddle then favors the centralization of masses.
The bike is equipped with Dymag UP7X forged wheels measuring 3.5”x17” at the front and 6”x17” at the rear, dressed with Pirelli Diablo SC 1 slick tires measuring 120/70R17 and 180/60R17 respectively. Possibly the rear rim can fit sizes up to 200/55, as indicated.

Technology and electronics

There are various possible chassis adjustments, with specifications based on the rider's needs. The inclination of the steering head can be adjusted by ±1° in 0,5° intervals, as indicated, while the fork offset can change between 26 mm and 28 mm. The height of the rear can also vary with the length of the wheelbase of the mono WP and the height of the saddle.
Il frame results a trellis, designed for track use and made of ChromeMolybdenum steel (25CrMo4). The model is also equipped with a WP APEX PRO 7543 closed cartridge adjustable front fork with an always adjustable WP APEX PRO 7117 steering damper. The closed cartridge system allows extensive adjustments to the hydraulics, managing the damping in the performance area. The compression and rebound damping adjustments are separate and manageable via an adjuster located in the upper part.
There is also a WP APEX PRO 7746 monoshock designed for use on the track with separate compression and rebound adjustments at high and low speeds.
The braking system includes Brembo technology, at the front a pair of Brembo Stylema® calipers with titanium screws and 290 mm floating discs, while at the rear a 230 mm floating disc associated with a double-piston caliper.
On the handlebars is a Brembo 19RCS CORSA CORTA radial master cylinder. Developed in the competitive field, this solution allows you to adapt the position of the braking attachment point with a selector located on the upper part of the pump.
Considering a Normal setting, marked "N", the braking attack point is managed to guarantee a gradual initial phase; on the other hand, in the "S" configuration, the Sport one, there is a modulability and prompt response for a more dynamic response; therefore in Race, indicated with "R", the initial phase is shortened to a minimum value for immediate braking.
There is a full-factory AIM MXS 1.2 RACE dashboard and a data logger with integrated GPS function. The data is recorded and can be analyzed with an AIM RaceStudio program. The display TFT and from 5 inches with integrated data recording, freely configured according to requests. On this you can note the ECU settings, information regarding the engine and lap time.

Engine and performance

The engine is similar to the one on the KTM 890 Duke R, a two-cylinder heart LC8c da 889 cc. It differs mainly in the intake part and in the management of the engine. The intake system was created in collaboration with Twin Air and consists of a new airbox combined with a racing Twin Air filter, maximizing the breathing of the propulsive heart and the accelerator response. The air is directed into the "fake tank" from the "ram air" socket located in the lower part of the fairing and sent under pressure up to the engine.
The example is also equipped with an exclusive stainless steel exhaust system made by Krämer Motorcycles which is associated with an Akrapovič titanium silencer with carbon end cap. Depending on local regulations, a 98 dBA silencer can also be ordered.
The expressed power reaches 128 horses with 101 Nm of torque, to be compared to 140 kg of dry weight.
