KTM: new 2023 SX range introduced [PHOTO]

Various innovations from a technical point of view

The new sample overview KTM SX2023 is made up of different models. The range ranges from electric and 2-stroke minicrosses of 50, 65 and 85 cm³, through the 2-stroke models of 125, 250 and 300 cm³, up to the high-performance 4-stroke motorbikes of 250, 350 and 450 cm³. New dynamic expressions for Motocross enthusiasts.

The 2023 range

Le KTM SX2023 they are slimmer, more slender and easier to handle. Redefined the chassis best associated with the latest generation WP suspensions. A key aspect of the new project for 2023 is the “longitudinal stiffness” of the frame with an effect “anti-squats” functional due to the sensitivity with the vehicle, favored by the renewed chassis. A result that is based on the redefinition of ergonomics, frame, rear subframe and swingarm, on the positioning of the engine and with the adoption of new WP Suspension technology.
From an aesthetic point of view, the new KTM SX appears more filiform, however the contact area of the superstructures with the rider is increased and a flat orange saddle is highlighted which offers functional grip and a new riding position which maximizes handling. The front mudguard has small "fins" which, in the case of wet surfaces, are functional in keeping dirt and mud away from the radiators and the motorcyclist. The appearance of the number plate is also new.
The partnerships with companies such as KEIHIN, PANKL and Brembo enhance the performance and the new range presents high-level standard equipment: it ranges from a map selector, opting between a standard, softer and more linear in terms of power and another which allows you to express greater determination; then passing through a fuel gauge via a Keihin engine management system; therefore still the presence of a standard meter with the status of the electronic injection and an inclination sensor in the event of a fall. Launch control and traction control are provided only for SX-F models.
The latest generation WP suspensions can be managed without the use of tools, the 7,2 liter polythene tanks with fuel pump and filter are new, made in a single piece and positioned in a protected area in the event of a fall; furthermore the Excel rims are characterized by a new design of the spoke nipples. Also new is the rear wheel axle which is wider than the previous one, to the advantage of the rigidity of the rear area. All motorbikes are fitted with Dunlop GEOMAX MX33 tyres, selected after a testing phase.

Technology

The 2-stroke models feature new symmetrical engine attachments to improve the flexural aspects, while the design appears more aggressive overall. There are also new platforms with a wider base and lighter thanks to die casting, placed towards the inside, creating more space in the channels and avoiding contact with the ground.
Il frame it is hydroformed, laser cut and robot welded. Optimized the thickness of the tube walls for better specific rigidity in the areas subjected to greatest stress, such as the steering head and the monoshock mount.
The new rear subframe it is a hybrid made of aluminum reinforced by polyamide and more force is released in the lower part of the frame with an increase in flexibility in the upper sections, for the benefit of control and comfort, as indicated. It weighs less than 2 kilograms. The chassis part of the range includes a WP in die-cast aluminium, which is now lighter due to new production processes that allow for greater weight savings. The WP Suspension XACT monoshock is shorter and lighter, offering the same rear wheel travel as the previous model. The internal flow of liquids and the small size of the shock absorber are smoother, mitigating the possible entry of residues and dirt. The link is also new for greater ground clearance and more effective traction.
Other highlights also include new CNC-milled triple clamps, featuring optimized steering head mounts and a larger mounting surface for less front-end torsion, reportedly.
engines
The starting of all engines is electric, they are compact and simple units for a functional weight/power ratio.
The 2023 SX are equipped with a new 39 mm throttle body with injectors positioned to ensure a prompt response and the engines also feature a throttle position sensor, which refines idle behavior and optimizes the combination of mixture and air.
The most important news about the units 2 stroke it is a new electronic injection, while on the models 4-stroke the new heads support a significant increase in performance. Rotating the engines backwards by 2 degrees allowed for better mass centralization for the benefit of balance, as highlighted. The Brembo hydraulic clutch ensures high reliability, so an additional sensor in the PANKL Racing Systems gearboxes then allowed the debut of the series Quickshifter. The system can be deactivated via a switch on the handlebars. Inside the gearbox there is a lighter desmodromic which attenuates the force needed to engage the gear, again based on the information.
