KTM Freeride E-SM, the first electric supermoto has arrived

KTM Freeride ESM – KTM launches its first electric motorcycle dedicated to use on asphalt, the Freeride E-SM. The new born thus completes the family alongside its Cross SX and Enduro XC sisters.

At the international launch recently held in Barcelona, KTM presented the road version of the Freeride E, enjoying considerable success among professionals. The new model from the Austrian brand immediately demonstrated great qualities of stability and safety in any driving condition. The Supermoto is identical in every way to its off-road sisters, except for the dimensions of the rims and tires and for the more relaxed final ratio, which allows it to reach a speed of around 90km/h. The engine, made entirely by KTM, is a brushless permanent magnet synchronous motor, which requires very little maintenance and has decidedly low operating costs.

The amenities of the KTM Freeride E-SM they are mainly concentrated around the durable steel frame combined with lightweight aluminum plates, there is also fully adjustable WP suspension, 17" Giant rims which wear Pirelli Diablo Rosso tyres. The performance, guaranteed by the lithium ion PowerPack by Samsung, is important with a maximum torque value of 16kW and 42Nm, which align the performance (in terms of torque) with a 4cc 250-stroke KTM engine. Furthermore, it is possible to set between three different riding modes. "The birth of the Freeride E-SM, a true sports motorcycle to be used as a Sprintbike in urban areas, represents for us a new step forward towards the concept of sustainable mobility, while maintaining the "cool" style inherent in KTM's DNAHe said Philipp Habsburg, head of KTM's R&D Department. “The SM joins the fun off-road versions, completing a first block of motorcycles which in the space of a few years will lead us to have an even wider and more complete range of electric vehicles".
