KTM 450 SMR 2024: the advanced proposal for Supermoto enthusiasts [PHOTO]

The specimen KTM 450 SMR it is designed to compete in the Supermoto scene, but it can also be a valid means for riders who want to stay in shape. Compared to the previous example, the 2024 model features new graphics co-printed in the plastics. The shades are white and orange, in addition to the presence of purple inserts that recall a color worn by KTM models in the past.

The motorcycle

La KTM 450 SMR 2024 it is equipped with various functional solutions such as electric starting, an airbox designed for performance and an air filter that can be replaced without tools. It features a polyethylene tank 7,2 liters to have greater autonomy and a high, flat saddle with high grip covering, to facilitate control at every lean angle. The platforms themselves, with a larger support surface, are designed to be better integrated.
The standard electronics are managed by the Keihin engine control unit with two selectable maps, solutions such as launch control, quickshifter and traction control are also indicated. The package also includes an LED injection warning light, a rollover sensor which, in a possible accident, checks the position of the motorbike and automatically switches off the engine for the benefit of safety, and then an hour meter.
The frame is developed in hydroformed steel tubes, laser cut and robot welded, a compact structure that allows for the centralization of masses, also obtaining flexural and torsional rigidity to support dynamism. There is also a reinforced aluminum frame weighing 1,815 kg, defined starting from computational dynamics studies and considering reliability, robustness and sensitivity as the main aspects.
We then highlight a Neken aluminum handlebar, fork plates machined from solid with elastomeric supports to attenuate vibrations and a hollow cast aluminum swingarm. The suspension part is made up of WP XACT solutions, at the front a 48 mm WP suggested. At the back there is a compact and lightweight WP One of the most sophisticated elements of WP Suspension and, as in the case of the fork, without the use of tools it allows you to configure the compression and rebound action.
The Brembo braking system consists of a four-piston radial caliper combined with a 310 mm front disc, then a single-piston solution combined with a 220 mm disc in the rear area.
As standard, there are Alpina rims fitted with high-performance Metzeler Racetec SM K1 Supermoto tyres.

Motor

Il 450 cc single-shaft engine features a 44mm Keihin throttle body. A heart whose weight is limited, not even 27 kg as reported. There is also a SUTER slipper clutch to support the action. The expressed power is: 63 horses.

Availability and price

Waiting in all KTM dealers starting fromlast week of May 2023, KTM 450 SMR 2024 will be offered at a price of 13.190 euros (VAT included).
