Lighter 63 horsepower engine

The new KTM 450 SMR, in the version 2023, is a model aimed at lovers of the Supermoto category with several innovations, starting with a hydroformed, laser-cut and robot-welded frame, as well as a functional weight/power ratio.

The specialised farming model

La KTM 450 SMR 2023 it is characterized by a hint of purple that recalls the 90s and underlines the sportiness of the associated graphics. Features a flat orange saddle and white tail. Among the interesting factors are also the new ergonomics and a targeted triangulation of the rider, considering a greater contact surface between the vehicle and the motorcyclist.
The footrests, placed in a more internal position, increase the sensation of contact with the 450 SMR 2023 to direct it to the chosen points. As mentioned, among the new features stands out a hydroformed frame, laser cut and welded by robots, combined with a rear subframe made of aluminum and reinforced with polyamide. Another functional aspect in the driving alchemy, also taking into account high resistance.
On a Supermoto track, what counts is a precise front part and a stable rear area, therefore a modified longitudinal and torsional flexibility is highlighted, with an intervention also on the thickness of the frame walls. There are also high-quality CNC-milled aluminum triple clamps, a solution that widens the contact surface with the fork sliders and intensifies sensitivity in the most demanding conditions, according to the indications.

The 48mm AER fork features split damping functions and tool-free handling rings. The WP XACT shock absorber offers the same practicality, it is shorter and lighter, but with the same previous travel. An updated system to offer advanced damping characteristics.
The 2023 model is also distinguishable by a different shock absorber mounting point, with improved energy absorption and straight-line stability. The "anti-squat" aspect involves rapid acceleration and corner exits, also given a repositioning of the rotating masses and the new shock absorber.
Drifts are manageable thanks to the combination of the new die-cast aluminum swingarm, the new 22 mm diameter rear wheel axle and the latest generation WP XACT mono, as reported again.
The balance between the SUTER slipper clutch with Brembo hydraulics and the braking system consisting of a 310 mm front disc associated with a 4-piston Brembo caliper and a 220 mm rear brake flanked by a caliper is also functional for corner entry. single piston. The example is equipped with Metzeler Racetec SM K1 tyres.

A rearward-sloping heart with a pinion lowered by 3 mm, upgrades to the cylinder and an optimization of the crankshaft are also noted. A function that can be disabled via the combination switch located on the handlebars and is integrated into the Keihin engine management system. Among the possibilities, an intervention on the traction control and launch control, as well as the opportunity to opt between two customizable engine maps.
