KTM 1290 Super Duke R: the characterizing aspects of the "Beast" [VIDEO]
LC8 engine and 180 horsepower
Details, components and a connection of factors that define a sporty and dynamic concept: the KTM 1290 Super Duke R.
Performance and technique
An overview dedicated to the model highlights the aspects related to: “THE BEAST 3.0”. In the new film proposed by KTM an overall perspective is outlined.
The new “Beast” conveys great potential, considering precisely the same characteristics.
The four-stroke twin-cylinder engine LC8 at V of 75° it is equal to 1.301 cc, paired with a six-speed gearbox. The power amounts to 180 horses and the pair of 140 Nm. A power to be compared to a dry weight of 189 kg. The features also include the exhaust manifolds designed to optimize flows, considering dimensions of up to 60 mm, as well as two emission catalysts and a recognizable sound.
Also highlighted is a redefined trellis frame made of chrome-molybdenum steel with three times greater torsional rigidity than previous generations, recovering information. The propulsive heart itself reinforces the stiffness. Also of note: a rear subframe in composite material, with aluminum and carbon, a WP APEX suspension system, a more extended single-sided rear swingarm positioned closer to the sprocket, therefore a redefined geometry for functional grip. Going back to the information, the model features LED headlights, TFT instrumentation on a 5-inch tilt-manageable screen and various devices such as an inertial platform and 6D lean sensor, redefined riding modes (Rain, Street, Sport and an optional Track) and a further “Performance mode” option. Also notable are the low handlebars, adjustable footrests and a support connected to the shape of the approximately 16-litre tank. The seat height is 835 mm.
