Each project is the translation of ideas and, in the case of the new one KTM 1290 Super Duke R, the dynamic force transmitted by the 1.301cc V-twin summarizes the connotative sportiness of the Austrian brand.

An explosion of power

In the new film proposed by KTM and dedicated to the model, the interesting focus on the project underlines the various and sophisticated solutions and the high-performance nature of the example.
The new “Beast” offers great potential, considering precisely the same characteristics. Elements such as a redefined trellis frame made of chrome-molybdenum steel, featuring three times greater torsional rigidity than previous generations, carrying over the information. The engine itself reinforces this stiffness. Also mentioned is a new rear subframe in composite material, with aluminum and carbon. Also interesting is the presence of a suspension system WP APEX, a more extended single-sided rear swingarm positioned closer to the sprocket, together with a redefined geometry for maximized grip. Also indicated are variants with darker or orange shades, LED headlights, TFT instruments on a 5-inch screen that can be adjusted in inclination and various devices such as an inertial platform and 6D lean sensor, redefined riding modes (Rain, Street, Sport and an optional Track) and a further “Performance mode” option, always considering the information. Among the highlighted aspects are also a lowered handlebar, adjustable footrests and a support connected to the shape of the approximately 16-litre tank. The seat height is 835 mm.
The heart is a volcanic four-stroke twin-cylinder LC8 V-shaped 75° and 1.301 cc. Lighter and always more energetic, the engine can develop 180 horses of power and a pair of 140 Nm and is associated with a six-speed gearbox. This force must be compared to a dry weight of 189 kg. Furthermore, the exhaust manifolds are designed to optimize flows, considering dimensions of up to 60 mm, as well as two emission catalysts. The sound emitted appears fiery and distinctive, as perceivable from a previously proposed video linked to another article.
