KTM 1290 Super Duke R 2020: performance dynamism [VIDEO]

A high-performance 1.301 cc V-twin, which pushes and fuels the character of the new one KTM 1290 Super Duke R.

The specialised farming model

A naked bike that expresses great potential, considering the aforementioned engine together with its various aspects. Starting from an entirely redefined chrome-molybdenum steel trellis frame, featuring three times greater torsional rigidity when compared to previous generations. The engine itself reinforces this rigidity. There is also a new rear subframe in composite material, with aluminum and carbon. A suspension system is also highlighted WP APEX, a more extended single-sided rear swingarm relocated close to the sprocket, as well as a geometry redefined for greater grip in terms of performance. Also listed are LED headlights, tilt-manageable 5-inch TFT screen instruments and a series of devices including inertial platform and 6D lean sensor, also including redefined riding modes (Rain, Street, Sport and an optional Track) together with an additional “Performance mode” option more adapted to the road, as reported. The same aspect is studied considering functionality and comfort in light of a lowered handlebar, adjustable footrests and the support offered by the shape of the tank which can hold approximately 16 litres. The saddle height amounts to 835 mm.

Motor

The aforementioned four-stroke twin-cylinder LC8 a V da 75°, from 1.301 cc, is less heavy, always following the indications, but still energetic and with new supports for the engine and leverage as well as the entire view of the unit, obtaining a thrust of 180 horses and a pair equal to 140 Nm. The heart is associated with a six-speed gearbox. A power compared to a dry weight of 189 kg, as indicated. Moving on to the exhaust, the exhaust manifolds take care of optimizing the flows in the light of dimensions up to 60 mm, therefore two emission catalysts. The sound remains distinctive, as documented by the proposed video.

Colors and price

Looking at the company's website, we note variations in darker or orange colors with connotative details and a second price list figure of 18.720,00 euros.
