KTM 1290 Super Adventure S: exploratory nature [VIDEO]

Eclectic character and dynamism are highlighted in the new film proposed by KTM in which the new one appears 1290 Super Adventure S.

The specialised farming model

A concept designed to venture on multiple routes. According to the information, the steering head has been moved back by 15 millimeters, the engine repositioned, the open trellis swingarm lengthened with stability and traction in mind. The position of the handlebars and levers is customizable. The rear subframe is new with revised measurements considering the height of the saddle and the tank is also new 23 liters with “key less” refueling cap and superstructures that underline the character of the specimen. The saddle, in two parts, is adjustable in height by 20 mm. The windshield was refined in the wind tunnel, equipped with a manageable windshield, also evaluating the tank superstructures.
The model features a display TFT da seven inches and a revamped glovebox with a USB charging socket. You can interact via the redefined handlebar blocks, the Connectivity Unit is also new and allows the smartphone to be paired via Bluetooth, managing incoming phone calls, the music play list and navigation (for a fee) through the KTM MY app LAUGH.

Among the new features from WP is a Suspension PRO package, a package of additional settings (for a fee) which, in addition to the three Comfort, Street and Sport settings of the standard hydraulic damping, also includes an Advance mode, allowing fine customization of the fork's behavior and of the monoshock absorber, the Auto mode which automatically adjusts the suspension response based on the rider's driving style and the terrain, then the Offroad mode for driving off-road with an optimized setting. Among the options in the PRO package there is also the possibility of managing the "anti-dive" function by recalling or deactivating it, of adjusting the mono preload on 10 levels or choosing between three pre-set options High, Standard and Low.

A powerful heart

The new KTM 1290 Super Adventure S It is powered by a 8° LC75 V-twin engine 1.301 cc. A specimen Euro 5. Also highlighted is an advanced gearbox made by Pankl, allowing optimized and quicker gear changes, especially when using the optional Quickshifter+. The power amounts to 160 horses and the couple vertex is equal to 138 Nm, compared to a weight 1,6 kg less than the previous model.

Technology and energy

The inertial platform is oriented towards dynamism and new WP APEX suspensions are mentioned with Semi-Active Technology (SAT), considering new electromagnetic valves and constant management of oil flows inside the fork and monoshock. The traction control is advanced, being able to install the Rally riding mode as an option, in addition to the various Rain, Street, Sport and Offroad riding modes.
Also reported is the possibility of purchasing the Tech Pack paid package which includes the Rally Pack with Rally riding mode (which allows you to adjust the intervention of the traction control on nine levels), the Suspension PRO Package, the Quickshifter+, the torque management of the engine in the release phase (Motor Slip Regulation), Hill Hold Control to facilitate new starts on hills and the adaptive brake light in the event of emergency braking. The Rally Pack and the Suspension PRO package can be purchased separately, as indicated.
Among the solutions mentioned also a control of cornering ABS, Offroad ABS and Traction Control, managed by the Motorcycle Stability Control sensitive to the lean angle, defined in collaboration with Bosch. The new 6D inertial platform includes two different control devices, one for rear wheel slip and the other for calculating the lean angle.
A system is also highlighted Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), in collaboration with Bosch, linked to a radar located under the front headlight with automatic adjustment of the distance to the vehicles in front. The safety distance can be set in five levels.
