The new KTM 1290 Super Adventure S presents various functional solutions.

Interaction

In the video proposed by KTM the instrumentation area takes center stage. Highlighted a 7 inch TFT display, an instrument panel located above a renovated glove compartment which also includes a USB charging socket. You can interact via the redefined handlebar blocks and the Connectivity Unit is also new which allows you to pair your smartphone via Bluetooth, managing incoming phone calls, the music play list and navigation (for a fee) through the KTM MY RIDE app, as reported.
An advanced model with a customizable position of the handlebars and levers. The steering head has been moved back 15 millimeters compared to the previous version and the engine has been repositioned in the frame. The open trellis swingarm was then lengthened for stability and traction. The rear subframe is also new with revised dimensions considering the height of the saddle and the 23 liter tank with "key less" refueling cap and superstructures that underline the character of the model are also new. The new two-part seat includes a 20 mm height-adjustable rider seat. The wind tunnel fairing equipped with an adjustable windshield was refined, taking into account the same superstructures of the tank, which according to the indications divert the air and water from the legs.
Among the new features from WP we highlight a Suspension PRO package, a package of additional settings (for a fee) which together with the three settings Comfort, Street and Sport of the standard hydraulic damping also includes an Advance mode, which allows fine customization of the behavior of the fork and monoshock absorber, the Auto mode which automatically adjusts the behavior of the suspension based on the rider's riding style and the terrain, then the Offroad mode for driving off-road with an optimized setting. Among the options in the PRO package also mentioned is the possibility of managing the "anti-dive" function by recalling or deactivating it as desired, of adjusting the mono preload on 10 levels or choosing between three pre-set options High, Standard and Low, based on to information.

Technology

In a previous film proposed by KTM, the associated systems were the protagonists. Among the new features highlighted is a system ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control), defined in collaboration with Bosch, linked to a radar present under the front headlight with automatic adjustment of the distance to the vehicles in front. The safety distance can be set in five levels via a new handlebar block. Just as other innovations stand out regarding the control of cornering ABS, Offroad ABS and Traction Control, managed by the Motorcycle Stability Control sensitive to the lean angle, defined in collaboration with Bosch. The new 6D inertial platform includes two different control devices, one for rear wheel slip and the other for calculating the lean angle.

The inertial platform takes care of the rider's behavior and manages the new and refined WP APEX suspension with Semi-Active Technology (SAT), with new electromagnetic valves and constant management of oil flows inside the fork and monoshock .
The traction control has also been updated, less invasive than the previous model as reported, it is now possible to install the Rally riding mode as an optional, which is added to the standard Rain, Street, Sport and Offroad riding modes.
For enthusiasts there is also the possibility of purchasing the Tech Pack paid package which includes the Rally Pack with Rally riding mode (which allows the intervention of the traction control to be adjusted to nine levels), the Suspension PRO Package, the Quickshifter+, the of engine torque in the release phase (Motor Slip Regulation), Hill Hold Control to facilitate new hill starts and the adaptive brake light in the event of emergency braking. The Rally Pack and Suspension PRO package can be purchased separately, as reported.

Motor

Il LC8 twin-cylinder engine at V of 75° from 1.301 cc is approved Euro 5. Also highlighted is an advanced gearbox made by Pankl, allowing faster and more precise gear changes, especially when using the optional Quickshifter+.
Maintenance intervals are scheduled every 15.000 km. The thrust delivered reaches 160 horses with 138 Nm of torque, with a weight 1,6 kg less than the previous version.
