Kawasaki: an electric concept linked to a research project [PHOTO]

Shown at EICMA 2019

An example of a study, in a strictly conceptual form, created to evaluate some aspects

Shown at the recent edition of EICMA, hosted in the pavilions of Rho Fiera Milano, electric concept developed by Kawasaki captured the attention of those present, together with the new creations introduced by the brand Akashi.

A research project

Yuji Horiuchi, President of the Kawasaki Heavy Industries Motorcycle & Engine Company, has provided some indications in this regard, although this remains an evaluation prototype given that for now there are no precise references on the introduction of an electric model in the immediate future. Even if, as suggested by the President himself of the Kawasaki Heavy Industries Motorcycle & Engine Company, there are many ways to explore it.
For several years the specialists of Kawasaki are engaged in targeted research on electric vehicles. In this case we focused on the driving sensations in relation to the electric thrust, in light of “high flexibility in terms of torque and power output”, as mentioned by Yuji Horiuchi in this regard. A machine therefore aligned with philosophy Rideology dear to Kawasaki, or “fun to drive”.
The concept is compact and similar to one Ninja 650, equipped with a trellis frame reminiscent of those already present on examples of the Z range o Ninja, as well as a chassis that can be found on medium-sized models, according to what emerged. Among the other aspects highlighted: an electric unit combined with a four-speed transmission with clutch, 20 kW of power in acceleration on demand and similar to 10 kW at cruising speed, a weight that amounts to 219 kg and an autonomy of about 100 km. The drive is powered by a rechargeable battery pack through a fast charging solution CHADeMo or household power from 100 240-V. The project was evaluated on the track Autopolis Property Kawasaki in southern Japan and also on urban routes, always repeating what is reported.
