Kawasaki: from 125 to the most powerful bikes at EICMA 2018 [INTERVIEW]
The interview with commercial director Sergio Vicarelli
the stand Kawasaki ad EICMA 2018, open to the public from tomorrow, offers many bikes at different levels of power and displacement: starting from the 125, new for the Japanese brand, up to the much more powerful H2, Ninja ZX-6R and Versys 1000. We talked about it together to Sergio Vicarelli, sales & marketing director of Kawasaki Italia.
Kawasaki and the world of 125s
The brand's entry into the world of 125 it's a hot topic being talked about at the stand: “It's a real revolution for Kawasaki, this year we're entering the world of 125s, so we're also targeting sixteen-year-olds, and therefore the customers of the future – explained Vicarelli – We offer them both as Ninja and as Z, two typical trademarks, for the world of sixteen year olds".
At EICMA both models are present, which share the same single-cylinder engine 11kW liquid-cooled engine that offers a boost to medium/high rpm at the top of the category. Both the Z125 and Ninja 125 have a trellis frame produced with the same technology as the iconic Kawasaki Ninja H2.
The Naked and the Kawasaki Z400
The offer of medium-sized naked bikes is, however, expanded with the arrival of the Z400. "We fill the gap of the entry level, with the gap of the Z400 – the words of Vicarelli – affordable in price, but of absolute value in terms of content, performance and finishing. An exciting product".
The starting point is the "little sister", but Kawasaki engineers have worked hard to arrive at a lighter and more powerful motorcycle.
The other Kawasaki news at EICMA 2018
There is no shortage of higher performing models, such as the Ninja ZX-6R or the H2 SX (“Performance yes, but with attention to consumption and pollution”), to get to the Versys 1000.
