Intermot 2020: the annual edition scheduled in Cologne has been cancelled

The suspension of the event has been decided Intermot 2020, an event dedicated to the panorama of two wheels scheduled from 6 at11 October 2020 a Neighborhood. The news was released through a press release.

The cancellation of the German event is also unfortunately linked to the effects of COVID-19 Coronavirus. The type of event, whose essence is precisely the sharing of the experience of those who participate, cannot be fully experienced in light of the important anti-contagion measures adopted in the recent period, which do not allow close encounters in delimited spaces.
The statement underlines that sharing is precisely the element "fascinating" and important event of the German trade fair and from here, consulting the main players and considering the health of the exhibitors and enthusiasts who attended: “Koelnmesse and the German Industry Association (IVM) have decided not to host this fair in 2020”.
Looking in perspective, the aforementioned digital support it could become more functional not only this year and in 2021, keeping in mind the possible effects on the sector, but also considering the 2022 event on which the organizers' attention is already focused. In the joint statement Oliver Frese, Chief Operating Officer of Koelnmesse e Reiner Brendicke, general director of IVM (German Motorcycle Industry Association), highlighted: “In the future, trade shows like Intermot will incorporate more hybrid elements, to complement the on-site experience with greater digital reach. All interested parties now have plenty of time to prepare accordingly for the next Intermot in Cologne and to make this the meeting place for the international motorcycle community again”.

Digital formats

The press release highlights the development of planned digital formats, dedicated to world premieres for the year 2021, in addition to innovations in related sectors such as accessories and clothing, including a "B2B" type in-depth format focused on “opportunities after the coronavirus crisis”. Intermot-related events in digital format are planned for the end of 2020, as reported.

Doubts about EICMA

The suspension of Intermot highlights the questions emerging in the last period regarding the 2020 edition of EICMA, considering the not so long interval between the event in Cologne and the one set up in the pavilions of Rho Fiera Milano. At the moment the established dates stand out on the Milanese exhibition website: between days 5 e November 8, 2020.
