Indian Chief 1948 – It's always nice to see a motorcycle or anything else come back to life after 40 years. But it is even more so if it is a 1948 Indian. On the web we found an amarcord, which recently turned 5 years old, where we see one of the most iconic models of the post-war period reborn.

The Chief was introduced in 1922 to replace the Powerplus which, however, continued its life under the name Standard until 1923. Designed by Charles B. Franklin, the Chief had Scout-like features, including the gearbox bolted to the engine crankcases, and, unlike the Powerplus, the Chief was not offered with rear suspension. In 1940, the main structure was modified to include the rear suspension piston, and in the same year, all Indian models underwent a restyling with large decorative fenders.

After the Second World War, the Chief was the only model made before the war. With the 1948 Indian Chief came beam forks similar to those used by the 841 and Sport Scout. Now enjoy the video of a myth being reborn.
