It will soon be the third most important brand in Europe

Husqvarna – Perhaps one of the reasons for the possible de-listing of KTM on the stock exchange is that without external investors the company will not be “forced” to release any annual report, which usually means anticipating the future plans of an important brand like that Austrian.

For now, however, official confirmation has arrived from KTM of the imminent entry into production of two new concepts, the Husqvarna Svartpilen and the Vitpilen. As a controlled brand of KTM, Husqvarna is taking design cues from its parent company and, so far, has shown two Vitpilen road concepts, one based on the Duke 390, the 401, and the other based on the Duke 690, the Vitpilen 701 and the Svartpilen 401, in scrambler style. The first two will be the two Vitpilen models and will almost certainly arrive next year. The KTM annual report states: “In 2017, the first step will be the arrival of the first two Vitpilen production models.” The use of the term “first two Vitpilen production models” also seems to suggest that there will eventually be more than two bikes in the range.

The report also explains how KTM wants to transform Husqvarna into the third largest motorcycle brand in Europe, behind KTM itself and BMW. The report states: “The upcoming segment-redefining production models of the Vitpilen and Svartpilen will put Husqvarna Motorcycles on track to become Europe's third largest motorcycle manufacturer, aiming to do so by 2020.”
