Honda: Type R and Fireblade turn 25

The Fireblade is the bike that rewrote the rules for the maxi supersport class

The Type R was born in 1992 with the aim of developing a car capable of combining overwhelming driving pleasure with the speed of a racing car

Honda Fireblade – Double birthday at home Honda. The Japanese brand, in fact, can celebrate the 25 years of life of two models that have made history, a car and a motorbike, respectively the Type R. e Fireblade. To do this, some shots were put online in which the two models cross paths on the circuit in an unprecedented dance of style and power.

The Type R name first appeared in 1992, with the debut of the first-generation NSX Type R. Honda's goal was to develop a car capable of combining overwhelming driving pleasure with the speed of a racing car, powered by a 6-liter V3 engine capable of delivering 280 HP. Through a massive weight reduction program, the standard NSX model is lightened by almost 120 kg thanks to the adoption of new Recaro lightweight composite seats replacing the electronically adjustable leather model. The 2017 marks the 25th anniversary of the introduction of the very first Honda Type R. For over two decades, the Type R badge has distinguished the highest performance version of the model, the result of the philosophy of building racing-inspired road cars. Honda's Type R models have always represented the purity of the original concept: minimizing weight and at the same time optimizing power, responsiveness, dynamic stability and braking performance. The new Civic Type R has been completely revised to offer the most rewarding driving experience in the sports sedan segment, the fifth generation Civic Type R represents the first truly “global” model. Unlike previous versions where specific variants were limited to the Japanese or European markets, the new Type R will be exported worldwide.

The Fireblade is the bike that rewrote the rules of design, performance and handling for the maxi supersport class. And he has never stopped doing it since then. Initially developed in 750cc displacement, the first production CBR900RR combined an 893cc engine with an ultra-light chassis and aggressive chassis geometries, to create a real revolution, which made the first Fireblade a milestone in Honda production and beyond Alone. Thanks to the redesign of 90% of the components, the 2017 versions (CBR1000RR SP e CBR1000RR SP2), marks a further sensational step towards achieving 'Total Control', thanks to an overall weight reduction of 15 kg, an increase in power of 11 HP (now 192 HP) and a first-rate electronic package with IMU inertial platform . The suspensions are Showa and the brakes are Tokico. The exhaust system is made of titanium.
