Honda ST125 Dax: the return of an iconic compact example for 2023 [PHOTO]

The term Dax refers to “Dachshund”, dachshund with an elongated body. A name associated with the compact specimen Honda ST125 Dax, once again the protagonist in the overview of mini-bikes offered in Europe together with Monkey e MSX125 Grom.

The specialised farming model

A return after 41 years. The new Honda ST125 Dax in Italy it will be available in livery Pearl Nebula Red, enriched in the center of the frame by a black stripe with the original “Dax” writing next to the traditional Honda wing logo and a stylized image of the dachshund.
The extended layout, looking at the chromed handlebars, the saddle and in particular the frame, is reminiscent of the appearance of the German dachshund, which the brand took inspiration from in 1969 to give a name to the first ST50 Dax example.

The new model resembles the original model in appearance with contemporary contents, highlighting in particular the full LED lights and a compact backlit LCD display.
Among the stylistic elements stand out a chrome handlebar and the passenger grab handle, associated with a T-frame in pressed steel which is the stylistic cornerstone of the model. The different elements are tied to it or contained, such as the tank which can hold 3,8 liters of fuel.
Together with the chrome components, other elements such as a double saddle placed at a height of 775 mm and a raised exhaust inspired by the dirt bikes of the Seventies, with perforated and chromed heat shield, define a retro vision that recalls the past.

Technology

The suspension part is composed of an upside down fork 31 millimeters to which are added double rear shock absorbers. The braking system with single-channel ABS on the front wheel features front and rear hydraulic calipers combined with discs of 220 mm e 190 mm in diameter.
The inclination of the steering head and the trail are 24,9° and 84 mm, furthermore the wheelbase extends for 1.020 mm. Considering the full tank of petrol, the weight amounts to 107 kg.
The picture is defined by 12-inch black minibike-style rims, which fit wide-section tyres.
The vehicle is equipped with a four-stroke engine 124 cc, An air-cooled Euro 5 standard single-shaft unit. An automatic centrifugal clutch and a four-speed transmission are also noted.
The power reaches a peak of 9,4 horses (6,9 kW) at 7.000 rpm and the torque peak is 10,8 Nm at 5.000 rpm.
