La Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP was awarded in the category “Smart Product” of the “Red Dot Awards”. The new high-performance motorcycle from the Japanese company was the protagonist on the occasion together with the electric one Honda and, who were awarded the recognition “Red Dot 2020” in the category “Smart Product” and also the prestigious “Red Dot: Best of the Best 2020”.

The winning style of the new Firiblade

The recent CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP it is the latest in a lineage originating in 1992, with the introduction of the first CBR900RR. In their respective segment, Fireblade models have always been admired for their performance and design. The 2020 model confirms these aspects. Functional aerodynamics developed with HRC specialists and covered with Grand Prix Red (a reference to the characteristic HRC colors) or Matte Pearl Black colours, therefore technological contents such as a new and sophisticated 6-axis Bosch inertial platform (IMU) and a new titanium exhaust muffler with choke valve, in collaboration with the specialist Akrapovič. The SP version, as indicated, includes electronic Öhlins suspensions unlike the multi-adjustable Showas, a Brembo Stylema front braking system compared to a Nissin one and the rear caliper remains Brembo as on the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade. The heart is made up of four in-line cylinders, the most powerful ever developed in series by the Japanese brand. Transmits 217,5 horses of maximum thrust a 14.500 rpm and a pair of 113 Nm a 12.500 rpm, to be reported to 201 kg with a full tank of petrol, as reported.
The bike was designed following a prospective approach, thanks to the close collaboration between digital simulation experts, model makers and designers from Honda's R&D centre, as well as the work of specialists from Honda's Racing division, HRC. On this occasion, Satoshi Kawawa, General Manager of the Motorcycle Design division, underlined the prestige of this recognition and how the model was designed to be a winner. Every aspect is functional for “speed, performance and aerodynamic efficiency”. This can be seen by observing the streamlined design of the hull and the resized fairing as well as the technical refinements which allow for a drag coefficient equal to 0,270. A top-level result in the segment. Also unique are the aerodynamic "fins" derived from the experience in MotoGP and useful for downforce and stability, as noted again.
