Honda PCX 125 MY2017, the most agile of the entire range, runs like a handkerchief! [FIRST CONTACT]

First 125 to switch to Euro 4 last year, confirmed in 2017

A more particular look than other models and a handlebar that turns almost infinitely make the PCX 125 unique, very easy to handle and a little outside the classic mold

We have reached the last of the scooters present at the “Easy Test” event (here the article), during which we were presented with the updated models in their MY2017, from Honda's "under 125" range. However, the PCX is actually a confirmation, given that last year it was the first 125 to align, in advance, with the Euro 4 directives. This year it therefore remains unchanged, but since we hadn't tried it yet, we took advantage of the opportunity to do so.

Let's start by describing the appearance and peculiarities of a scooter that is highly appreciated, especially by those who have bought it, or simply have had the opportunity to ride it. It offers an extremely comfortable driving position, so to speak, that of a maxi scooter, with a low seat, comfortable arms and relaxed forward position. Plenty of space for the legs and for the passenger, with a generously sized saddle, while the footrest reflects the shape of the frame and is not flat. Not bad, some might say, because the space under the saddle is plentiful and sufficient to accommodate even a full-face helmet. The equipment is excellent, thanks also to the presence of LED lights and a 12 volt socket.

However, what makes the PCX unique, making you appreciate it more than you can by seeing it in photos or even in person before driving it, is the steering angle. The solution of a non-faired handlebar has in fact allowed us to "exaggerate", so the PCX when maneuvering seems to turn on itself as far as it is possible to turn with the front wheel. A feature that helps when moving when stationary, but especially between stopped cars in city traffic.

For the rest, the PCX 125 is brilliant, with the low-friction eSP (enhanced Smart Power) engine, equipped with Start&Stop capable of delivering 11,7 horsepower at 8.500 rpm, which are well exploited by a transmission calibrated to give the best in first meters. Thus, for example, acceleration allows you to burn 50 meters in just 5,4 seconds.

“Chubby” wheels on 14″ rims make passage over potholes and rails a game for inexperienced drivers, while the absence of ABS is countered by the excellent action of the CBS combined braking, which activates the front disc and rear drum with the action even on just a single lever. We talked about the low seat, with only 760 mm from the ground, while the weight, well balanced and with a particularly low center of gravity, is 130 kg with a full tank.

Consumption, as for the rest of the Honda 125 range (as well as the Vision 110), is negligible and around the 50 km/l threshold (the declared here is 47,4 km/l in the WMTC cycle). With a tank with a capacity of 8 liters, the autonomy is over 375 km. There is also the double stand, central and side as standard, while the PCX is available in 5 colors: Pearl Cool White, Pearl Nightstar Black, Moondust Silver Metallic, Pearl Siena Red and
Mat Carbonium Gray Metallic. We close with the very interesting price of only 2.790 euros.
